I would think team Canada is going to look at the big picture with picking their goaltending. Mason's sample size playing well is small compared to the guys they have to choose from who have been very good over a longer stretch. I think there needs to be some injuries for Mason to go. Honestly I wouldnt be upset if he doesnt go. gives him some time to rest and recharge the batteries.

I don't think it's because he's not playing well, just that there is too much at stake for Yzerman to take a risk. The team is going to be good. Luongo is a lock to be on it. Price, Smith and Fleury have a history. Harding's been lights out, true, as has Mason.

The question you have to ask is: if you are Stevie Y, do you gamble on a goalie 1/4 of a season into a rebound year? Unlikely, which is why I said doubtful.

I hope Mason continues his great play and signs a good, long contract. He will have earned it if they are in a playoff spot early in the new year, after two long road trips...

Fleury played 0 games as a 25 yr old. That is how I view the third goalie, a potential one for the future. That is why I would rather see Mason or Bernier. If both play for the next 5 years as they have so far this year, they are in contention. Fleury has stumbled in between. Smith is too old.

No, they wouldn't. Buffalo is getting great goaltending, as well. As for the Canadian goalies, I really don't know. The two you mentioned are kind of a given, but then again, this season they haven't shown more than Mason. It's going to be a tough decision for Canada, since there's no goalie that really stands out.

Sammy has a few Twitter comments from Holmgren regarding Mason's contract including:

Quote:
#Flyers in no hurry to sign Mason. Homer will have talks with Mason's agent next month, but hints it won't get done til after season

Homer says It could be distracting to Mason if heavy negotiations are done during season.

Reading between the lines I think the Flyers share the same opinion as most of us, and that is you get the most out of your players before a deal is reached.

No reason to overreact and send a pay day Mason's way just because of 2 solid months.

As a Flyer:

27 games played

14-10-2
1 shutout

.935 SV%
2.08 GAA

Since that point in time Rask is pretty much the only guy with better figures at a glance.

Mason has been everything that we, as Flyers fans, have been praying for. I know we are all waiting for the bottom to fall out. But every game, the guy just shows up.

So many times I've seen Mase make a save and think, no way Bryz would have had that.
Very pleased with our goaltending right now

Really wanted Leafs to acquire Mason, didn't believe for a second he was a washed up goalie as many thought he was.

In all fairness, he was pulled in that one game where he probably would

Both Mason and Emery have been terrible for the last month. I have little faith in either of them.

Yahoo has game logs as well, which are quite useful.
