McTavish to miss game

Family illness pulls him from the bench

ST. PAUL - Head coach Craig MacTavish won't be behind the bench with the Edmonton Oilers tonight.
MacTavish is in London, Ontario attending to a serious illness in the family and will rejoin the team in Edmonton.

MacTavish had hoped to return in time for tonight's game against the Minnesota Wild, but the team announced this morning that won't be the case.

In his absence, assistant coaches Charlie Huddy, Bill Moores and Craig Simpson will run the bench against Minnesota tonight.

Those 3 guys are more than capable to handle one game.

Maybe it will be the lame excuse for the team to actually put out an effort above and beyond the call of duty?

I hope so.

I'd take an effort right around the call of duty, honestly.

Wish MacT's family all the best...

If Edmonton wins without MacT tonight im sure that a few vultures will make threads wanting him fired. "see look what happens, no MacT and we win 5-1"

Ditto.

Looks like we got Charlie Huddy as the official Interim Headcoach for tonight, Simmer is running the D, and Billy Moores controlling ice-time n changes, and or line Combos.
Lets win one for the Skipper!

Hahaha.

I said to my friend that I had a good feeling about the game, and he was surprised, what with Staios not making the trip, and MacT not being there. And I said it was because they'd pull out a "let's win one for the Gipper" type effort.
