"I don't care what position you play; if you hit the open market you are going to make more [money] as a free agent because they overpay," Cutler said. "You're going to have a couple of teams lobbying, and if that's your goal, you'll get as much money as you possibly can but from somewhere else. Typically if you stay at home and you stay where you are at, of course, you're going to take a little bit less; just from not having to move or relocate or deal with stuff like learning new plays and new teammates. It's a business and we'll see.

Anyone up for making Super Bowl predictions prior to the playoffs starting? My money's on Seattle over Denver right now.

Seattle over New England.

I'd prefer New England over Philly though

Laurence Holmes‏@LaurenceWHolmes1m
According to @PFF Cutler (+4.0) was highest graded offensive player for #Bears. Graded much higher than Rodgers (-2.4).

Well those grades are wrong if he's the highest offensive grade for the Bears last game. Forte was all around the best in that game.

What exactly goes into these ratings?

I don't know guys, maybe someone can sell me on their grading system... but to me, it just sounds like some guys at a site trying to put a number on something, that you really can't easily put a number too.... But if you add enough numbers together, divide by 12, you magically have their grade number.

https://www.profootballfocus.com/about/grading/

Case in point being how Cutler was graded higher than Forte. Anyone who watched that game knows Forte was the one who got that offense rolling in the second half, and is what opened up things for Cutler to then take more chances and be successful in doing so.

how on Earth Forte wasn't the highest is beyond me.

if fantasy was still going (I had 1 league where it was) Forte got 33 points in standard leagues!! hahaha that is crazy. Forte was a beast and had a monster game.

their rating system is something like you get a + between .5-2 or - between .5-2 each play. + if you do your job, - if you don't.

Yeah, that same rating system said Dave Carimi was 10X better than Long this year. Also said Jordan Mills was one of the worst in the league.

Lots of GMs are buying into these rating systems. But if it doesn't fit your narrative it's ok to bash it. Cutler and forte had good games deal with it.

Still don't get all that Cutler hate around here. He was fine while healthy. He won while healthy.

If you have something against commiting to him longterm it's the health factor. It's that he may not play 16 games a year.
The facts are easy. He has his ups and downs but in the end he wins more games than he loses and while he plays, the Bears are in the situation to make the POs.

Going into next season, he will have that offense a 2nd straight year with a OL that will be average at worst and a good supporting cast. Things look good on the offensiv side. The D was the problem this year, not the offense, not Cutler

@mikecwright: Bears signed P Drew Butler, per NFL source.

Kevin Butler's son
