2 magic points after being outplayed and outchanced. Mason was spectacular, with the exception of the floater off Schenn's skate, Giroux put the team on his shoulders, Lecavalier with a beautiful SO move and glad the Canucks didn't convert on so many juicy chances.

This is Tortorella's second most painful shootout loss to the Flyers in his career.

This is an arbitrary endpoint, but the Flyers are 15-6-3 in 24 games since Giroux scored his first of the season. That's a 113 point pace for the Flyers and 103 point pace for Giroux (11 goals and 19 assists).

Fair enough, I just didn't think he was stand out star material tonight. I agree he wasn't horrible tonight though, minus the two turnovers. He is having a bit of a rougher patch lately though imo

Oh I agree, but in a game that is a win. Where you have 1 or 2 really bad plays but you aren't scored on during them but otherwise aren't very noticeable then you get lost in the mix. Especially when another D-man plays awful most of the time he's one the ice and leads directly to two goal against. Under other circumstances Coburn gets some ire but in this case we won and a lot of good vibes to go around and MEz sucks up most of the bad vibes (and deservedly so).

The Rangers trying to get to the shootout since they had King Henrik in goal, they deserved it.

Glad we don't have to see the Sedins anymore this season (until the Finals ), damn are they good. Unbelievable the things they can do out there. Seeing the Flyers fourth line out there against them was nerve wracking.

Giroux and Mason were, borrowing from Coatesy, absolutely, flat out, unbelievable. A Flyers goaltender stopping all three shooters in the shootout? Unprecedented. Vinny's move was great, too.

Meszaros...

Coburn's identical gaffe in this game as the Edmonton game .

Also, both Sedins pushing Hartnell by the benches was hilarious.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^

They seemed perfectly fine going to a SO that game aha

However, hindsight may be 20/20, but as much of an advantage they thought they had in goal, we had in SO takers. Richards, Briere, Giroux>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jokinen, Parenteau, and Christensen

This has been a good week for Philly sports, Flyers are winning, Eagles going to the playoffs, 76ers have been losing (WInless For Wiggins) (PlaySorryForJabari) and even when they have won, they beat the Lakers! And the best part about the playoffs is I will be going to the game this Saturday. Cant ****ing wait!!!!!

Not at all true. Christensen was a great shootout specialist (he's still 3rd all-time) and their three shooters that day are 60/134 (44.8%) all-time. Giroux, Briere and Richards currently combine for 53/142 (37.3%) shooting in the skills competition.

Add in the goaltending advantage, and the Rangers had a 1.205 shootout PDO (SH% + SV%) compared to the Flyers meager .948 mark (Boucher's career .575 SV% is quite poor). The Rangers had every reason to play for the SO, but we got an improbable outcome.

Yeah, I'd say so... nothing wrong with Vegas, but nothing better than a Flyers win live.

Grats Flyers, its nice to see that Mason is looking very solid after what that clown Bryzgalov put you guys through.

I also thought Id mention that when our goaltender's mask was knocked loose Hartnell was the first guy to check if he was okay. I think the NHL needs more players like him.
