ESPN fluff article on Barnaby that I thought I should bring up for two reasons. One, he mentions that Rangers fans were the best hockey fans of the teams he has played for. Two, why do we not have a guy like this on our team? The way people have been treating Jagr, I am dumbfounded as to why the organization hasn't reacted with an attempt to get Barnaby or the like. In the article he talks about being a team player and doing something like fighting for the sake of protecting the skill players or changing momentum. When Shanny got into that fight a few weeks ago, that should have been the time the team did something. I know right now on this site and on most others, everyone wants Sather and Renny's heads on sticks anyway so I am sure there is going to be a lot of reaction to this which will be nothing more than "well, duh," but I thought I would throw it out there anyway.
I remember him always being kinda close to us fans in new york and I also think he gives interviews to hockeybird once in a while, so the love goes both way.
i always liked him as a ranger and hated to see him go, he might not be the best fighter around but hes a pest that id love to see on this team, im pretty sure you wouldnt see many guys going after jagr with barney in the lineup.
great guy, i hope he somehow ends up with us (of course i dont want them to overpay).
lets say.. maybe malik, sandis and colton orr for barnaby
Barnaby was a fan favorite during his stay in New York. Mostly because there wasn't much else to cheer about... I'd would love to have him on our team to share some experience with Hollweg. He'd be an upgrade over our bottom six...
Barnaby would come back in a flash if he could. No wonder he mentions the Rangers.
Always liked Barnaby, even from his Buffalo-days.
Worse version of Tucker, but would fit perfectly on energy line...
Hollweg-Betts-Barnaby
Two pain_in_the_a*s pests in one line...
Too bad that he has so expensive contract.
I love Barnaby and I would love if he somehow found a way to come back. If he is retiring it would suck not seeing him around but Id love to see him work with MSG in some way.
I would love to still have Barnaby on the Rangers!!!! There was never a dull moment when that guy was on the ice and he stuck up for his players no matter how big or "tough" the other guy was. I was defninitly sad to see him go.
On a side note i'm surpised "WheresBarnaby" hasnt commented yet
The reason I chose that name was, he said when he was traded, he would come back if it was offered. Of course that didn't happpen.... but at least we have Orr Barnaby is old time hockey fun, sucks he's in Dallas.

And old and hurt? Too old to be an enforcer or anything too effective in the league. If you think Orr is a bad fighter at this point...don't know what your expecting from Barney

A guy who gives his all every shift, bangs bodies, can score, sticks up for teamates,is a pest . I think the Rangers could use a guy like that personally. Maybe thats just me.

Bangs bodies? Not much of a hitter anymore. He does finish most checks but nothing too effective. He does stick up for his teammates...that I can't take away from him and I've always loved him don't get me wrong....but many people complain that Orr can't fight. Barnaby cannot do half as well as Orr. A pest? I think those days are over. Personally...I agree the Rangers could use him...he'd be one of those "tough" guys who can play. I just don't want people hoping he's here to replace Orr as an enforcer because his days as an enforcer are done (if he ever was one)
Barnaby and Fluery were the best.. I actually remember Barnaby holding Theo back in one game as he was going after some player on the other teams bench.. I'd love to see it again.. can't remember much from it but it was great.

He's getting up there, but you can't say if we would've signed him off season he would be hurt. He still plays a crash the net style something the Rangers really need to do more of. Not to mention he's just plain fun to watch.
Barnaby = Publically stated he'd rather retire than play for the Isles.
Barnaby > Simon.
Amen! I always loved him on the Rangers, never was afraid of taking on anyone, regardless of results, always provided a spark, and he actually was pretty good offensively while here.
