Reading all the comments, I was expecting this to be really bad.

After watching the video, I don't see what everyone is getting upset about. Yeah, Buchnevich was mildly taunting, and got paid back in turn. I didn't think the taunt or the high stick were all that terrible. If players/coaches didn't start overreacting, I doubt anyone would have looked twice at this incident.

Brady Skjei — Skjei made some excellent defensive plays early in this game. I liked him a lot in this tournament and really liked what he did in the first period to shut down some of Russia’s best chances. He does a very good job of sealing off the net-front and closing gaps. I think this tournament is an overall step forward for Skjei developmentally.

Back to Minnesota for the 2nd half of the season.

The alternative being what, jumping the boards and fighting inside the bench?

If this was Sean Avery everyone here would be celebrating it. An 18-year-old kid did something borderline stupid but ultimately harmless. He'll learn. Whatever.

Wait - what?

I hate taunting, showboating, bullying and ******** of all kinds. That said there is a spectrum. Bertuzzi's sucker punch was worse than Sean Avery chopping the legs out from under someone a couple of years back (I think it was against the Bruins), which was worse than Sidney Crosby's constant slewfooting of players, which was worse than Artem Anisimov's goal celebration, which was worse than Esa Tikkanen's kissing someone back in 93-94 (which I admit I actually thought was kind of hilarious). This is somewhere between Tikk and Crosby, right around AA territory - and has been said over and over, it was done by an 18-year-old kid. Would I like to see him tone it down in the future? Sure. But you know what? The bottom line is that I'm glad that for once we actually have a prospect with both the skills and confidence to pull this type of a maneuver.

Sweden looked nasty good against a weak Slovak team - albeit taking far too many penalties
Will be interesting to watch the Final 4 games in the tournament

If you've said your piece on Buchnevich, please move on. This back and forth is getting silly.

Finland/Czech game had some very impressive prospects. Finland's Honka('14 draft) looks like a gem. Undrafted Dominik Simon was the Czechs version of Ryan Callahan, smart, involved, plays big, leadership, plays in top Czech league.

Love this time of year, watching hockey all day, then tonight, with lots of snow coming

Are any of the guys in the WJC eligible to be signed as UFAs? Or are they all teams' property and/or eligible to be drafted?

Our bad poster boy Busnevitch tied for 13th spot in scoring so far in the tournament with 7 points in 5 games. Consider me impressed. Looks like a winner

Am I the only one who loved what Hartman did? I thought it was funny. Buch deserved it and he got it. Maybe he'll be wise enough not to do something like that v Canada, if that game is on. Because those guys like to give players concussions.

Definitely having a good tournament. Both of our guys did/have.

Routing for Russia now just to see Buch get some more points.

Thanks.

He's 18...and he got himself a bit of a smack in the face for his trouble.

Not bothered by either thing and not sure what the big deal is. See that stuff in sports all the time now.

A kid makes a decent tackle in one of the bowl games we were watching and acts like he just scored the winning touch down. Back in the day, Deacon Jones would put you in the hospital for that kind of grand standing, but it's all part of the norm now.

Gotta say that if he does that in the NHL it could cause problems for him. But for now he's just a kid having fun.

I've been keeping up with him a bit in the Dub and he looks like a very promising kid. Tremendous poise with the puck, great skating, and uses his mobility well enough that his size seems to be a pretty minor issue. Mentioned it in the draft thread, but if we were able to pick up a 2nd pick in the first round, I'd definitely give him a long look.
