A brief update:

I had to go in to the urgent care one county over this evening, mostly because of continuing pain in my lower back and leg while trying to sleep. I suspect it's due to issues I'm having as a result of my car.

Backing up, because I don't know if I shared this: back on the night of the 5th, I was heading into work when a deer decided to jump out of the woods in front of my car. I swerved; he took out my driver's side mirror. I got onto the iced-over shoulder and ditched my car. The repairs were going to be annoying - and I had to get a tow, because the car got lodged in the frozen, somewhat deep snow.

I had the weekend off, so I was going to get gas in the car Saturday afternoon. As I was doing so, a 19-year-old kid driving a 17-year-old Saturn turned left in front of me at one of our three stoplights in town. His lower front end ripped off the front bumper and grill of my car, and I was left with a car that was drivable - but not very legal. The headlight was bashed, the hood was bent and dented, and the front fender was pushed back - meaning the door wouldn't open.

Fortunately, because I had already started a previous claim on my deer strike, I didn't end up totaling the car. But I started having back pain that night - and ended up going in to the local hospital urgent care.

I should be getting the car back tomorrow, but I'm probably not going to have it for long; I've already put money down and signed a purchase agreement for a late-model HHR. I'm just waiting for the car to be ready so I can use it in trade.

Meanwhile, I'm dealing with my back and sleep issues, while my primary care physician is off for the holidays.

Sometimes I wonder why I'm up here in the middle of nowhere.

Wow, JW, that sounds bad. Will your back issues be covered through your auto insurance too? Logan had a recent auto accident with results similar to yours as far as the car was concerned. It had to be totaled. He hasn't seemed to have any health issues as a result but he's 23, so that's to be expected.

Yes, Flo and company over at Progressive will be paying for any medical bills we have.

I suspect that I might have some psycho-somatic issues with driving at the moment, in that I'm unconsciously tensing up my left leg as I'm driving. That might be a lot of my issues.

Got the car back today, and it's looking like Monday when I'm going to be taking it over to the car dealer to be appraised for a trade. I'll probably spend the weekend cleaning stuff out of it.

Once again I will venture the 13 hr ride to Nashville to see friends and try and heal.

So Viqsi, if the USS Hal Gill happen to check Danny will I be in trouble?

For those of you who missed it:

I have had a very, VERY trying last three weeks. First came the two accidents, rapid-fire in a row. Then came some ordeals at work related to the first accident that nearly cost me vacation this week. Then came the prospects of waiting on a new car.

Then came Christmas Eve night. Had some stomach pains, some side aches - thought I'd just overindulged with the food at a friend's party. The next morning, I'm running into the bathroom for the first of multiple puke sessions.

After a visit to the emergency room and two bags of IV fluid later, I'm finally feeling okay - but exchanging puking for the runs. It's so bad I have to cancel all sorts of appointments so I can relax.

Welp, I have something positive out of all this - a brand new car. It's a double first for me - a Chevy and red. But it's mine, it's newer, and it doesn't make me cringe when I get into it.

Most likely not. Just quit my job and nee to save cash. Been having a LOT of trouble focusing lately and this is a golden opportunity to focus, apply to the three colleges I want to apply to and just relax after an incredibly damaging job. Also a chance to write. My record for a novel is 195 pages single space in 2 weeks.

As much as I would love to head down to the game.

A) Much like all of you, my raging passion for the Preds is muted The team is not exactly setting the world on fire, I'm in severe depression, and my fall back psychological option is to run every possible trade to improve the team in my head. (Yeah, I love you too Asperger's). That's not healthy. I NEED to focus on my goals; history degree, writing, seasonal work till I add an ungodly debt by going to college.

B) A TON of my friends outside of hockey circles are here and there's just not enough time for them and Preds. This frankly is a chance to see a bunch of friends before I go into lock down mode.

I'd love to see you Adzy but I'm going to be a very busy man in the next 6 months.

So, let me get this straight...you weren't heading to Nashville, you were just on I-65. Right? Well, good luck in your writing and the history stuff. :-) Take care of yourself and get your head together. We're cheering for you. When you're ready to visit, come see us or let us know where you are and maybe we'll find ourselves up that way sometime.

Ah. That's where we Lewisburgians went to on dates back in the day.

They had booze outside of the package stores, don't you know.

Ah, let me explain. When I lived in L'burg they had package stores but no liquor by the drink--meaning no chains like Applebee's, Ruby Tuesday, TGIF, etc. were located there. It wasn't really whether you drank or not, you had to go to Columbia to go out on dates if you wanted to go to what was considered a nice place. Going to Dairy Queen wasn't considered a date.

Those aren't just in Nashville. Large houses on no land built so close you could almost touch your neighbor without either of you leaving your home .... no thanks.

The Klein trade completely ruined my wardrobe choice for the Blues game.
