A friend of mine showed me some interesting stats that I thought I would share with you guys, especially in light of our recent slump, I am sure you have all seen it before, or atleast heard it over and over, but it puts our scoring problems into perspective over the last few years! So here it goes!
Only Regarding Players playing for the Habs:
Only 2 players have scored 30 goals since the 2000-2001 season: Zednik in 02-03 and Ryder in 05-06
Only 10 DIFFERENT players have reached the 20 goal plateau since the 2000-2001 season. Zednik leads the way doing it 3 times, Perreault with 2, and Ryder with 2. Koivu, Petrov, Ribeiro, Higgins, Savage, Bulis, and Kovalev have each done it once.
Last player to record 100pts: Mats Naslund during the 85-86 season
Last player to record 90 pts: Damphousse and Turgeon during the 95-96 season
Ladt player to record 80 pts: Mark Recchi during the 96-97 season
Last player to record 70 pts: Saku Koivu during the 02-03 season
Since the 2000-2001 season, only Koivu, Ryder, Ribeiro, and Kovalev were able to break the 60 point barrier!
Last Player to get 50 goals: Stephane Richer during the 89-90 season
Last Player to get 40 goals: Vincent Damphousse during the 93-94 season
That is true about Crosby, but he is in a league of his own almost. I just find it funny that 29 other teams have players where its common place to have atleast one player to average a point or game or better while in montreal its a celebration if one of our own surpasses the 60 point plateau! And yet, we still make the playoffs!
Anyway, Go Habs Go
