Maybe they don't *need* that 7th rounder, maybe it's not a big loss, but Carcillo is not needed either and he's not a big gain.

It's whatever, I guess.

I'm guessing Sather made this deal by sending an email out to all the 29 GMs asking for the biggest C U Next Tuesday available.

HF logic, everyone.
I'd say most people wanting toughness would rather the organization learn how to DEVELOP players that bring that onto the ice, rather than trading for ones at the tail end of their career.

I hate Carcillo and even if I think the value is good, I don't want to watch him. He's a ******* that isn't just an agitator or fighter. No team needs a guy that makes malicious, non-hockey plays. Not to mention, he's barely a 4th liner at this point. People look at the fact that we're not winning and that we don't goon it up like it's some sort of correlation. In reality, it's that we can't score and Carcillo will not help us there. We get a ton of shots, win battles, and have good special teams... 5 on 5, we score less than any other team besides Buffalo because of we don't have snipers. Carcillo has been horrible shooting and scoring for the last 4 years.

I'll only agree to starting him against Philly since it's comeuppance for them sending him out against us. Besides that, I'd rather dress Jesper Fast or Danny Kristo. Carcillo offers nothing Asham, Beach, Haley, or even Stu Bickels doesn't.

If I were to guess before hand, I would have said the reaction would have been overly POSITIVE, since everyone on the board seems to want tough guys who can hit and fight.

The reaction in this thread, especially dagoon's, has been a giant WWE swerve.

That's exactly my point. There's a lot of crying here over what is essentially a "whatever" move. Do I feel like the Rangers need to make more than simply a "whatever" move? Yeah, I do. But I'm not going to whine about them making one. Why? Because it really is a "whatever" move.

How come we always acquire players that the fan base hates?

Lindros
Brashear
Asham
Carcillo

Most of which has been reactionary, biased and completely baseless in determining what the problems with team are.

1) Not everyone has been saying that.

2) They're still not tough enough as team toughness is just that -toughness throughout the line up.

3) Why is it that there was no option in the system?

So in GoonWorld we got Beach & Carcillo for Mashinter, Pyatt and a conditional 7th. Hmmm

They clearly feel Asham, Beach, and Bickel are not going to help.

Seriously, why couldn't we just call up Asham? He's a similar player to Carcillo

How about acquiring a pest who can actually contribute and won't take stupid penalties? Carcillo has been a negative player his whole career, do you really expect that to change?

Im really not sure how this can considered a bad move. A 7th round pick? This board is so hysterical. So many people wanted Konopka claimed because of the "toughness" yet, they say this is a bad move. Carcillo had almost as many points in 2009-2010 as Konopka has over the course of his career. He is a much better fighter and agitator. We haven't had a real agitator is Prust left. I really like this move.

I don't think anyone who likes this move has thought about how bad Carcillo is at hockey.

That's because we already have three 40-goal scorers on our team.

ugh. at least it's conditional? for what it's worth, Cooke has apparently cleaned up his game a lot. freakin' Carl Hagelin has more penalty minutes than Cooke does this year. In 11 less games! At least Carcillo's technically a Cup winner?

Clearly. I think they've probably figured out why Beach has yet to play an NHL game. Asham is pretty much done as an NHL player. Bickel is... well, he's Bickel. If they wanted to play a D at forward, they'd just play Falk there.

And Haley is hurt right now, is he not?

I heard we just traded Kreider for Tom Sestito, also.

This guy is a complete idiot..but so was Avery and he turned around our season in 2007. We shall see.
