No FIRE at MSG ?!!

Man can the Garden be a wet blanket sometimes....sorry to say but true....

after watching the Sabre game last night where their fans almost knock down the glass and join the play the lack of intensity is really apparant at MSG.....

I know its an afternoon game...but our team is not that bad and truthfully already in a very tight playoff race.....

Lotta kids...

on a Saturday, and it wasn't one of those games that gets you going. Didn't seem as though the Rangers were doing a lot of hitting to get the crowd going.

This team sucks the life out of the Arena. It's not the fans, it's the players.

The Rangers had 20 hits in the game (not counting Rachunek's on the goal )

Also, the crowd had a late, Let's Go Rangers, chant. They were doing there job, it's the players, coaches and management that aren't doing theirs.

20 hits in a 60 minute game is a disgrace. There should be more than one hit on almost every single shift.

With that said, what the NHL, or whoever it is, counts as hits is laughable.

I think J. Ward had three of four on his first shift and that was probably all he had the whole game. Speaking of hits, Krog would rather get the clap than hit someone.

I saw this stat during Renney's postgame interview. Atlanta had 24. Not as much passion during this game compared to the game in Atlanta earlier this season. I guess the guys didn't want to get hurt before they go to the Bahamas!

I noticed Hollweg had one hit...

and he's the one who can get the crowd going. Coming in like a missile, and laying out 4-8 hits in a game. That was missing.

two reasons

(1) suits

(2) retarded parents who think it would be cute to bring their snot-nosed children to the game, then have to leave during the 2nd period because the offspring get bored.

Oh please, the kids are the only fans with passion because they don't know any better and still have real hope. You don't have a clue.

It's hard to get excited about a team with almost no homegrown talent (and don't throw Prucha or Hollweg at me--neither of them played 10 minutes--Hollweg had less than 7 minutes), that relies on one finesse line and has a bunch of journeymen (with the exception of Shanahan--who's not providing much excitement at the moment either) on the rest of the lines.

Yeah blame the suits and the kids--that's the only thing keeping this "team" from winning.

Every single sports team has guys in suits in the first few rows.

Seriously...I went to opening night...and obviously that was pretty raucous throughout.

Then...Sunday night loss to NJ...most silent I've heard the place...then home to Caps (the Shanny fight night)....very silent til the scraps and scrapiness began...

and finally the Philly win...and boy I tell you for a game that had a hat trick and resulted in a victory...boy was it quiet. Heck the loud point was the fight!

MSG will never be louder than it was in the 1970's-1994. I wish you young guys that are not old enough to have been there could have experienced it. During the playoffs you could never hear any of the National Anthem because of the crowd noise. The Rangers fans and Blackhawk fans were the loudest by far.

agree 100%. give us something to cheer and we'll cheer. we'll even cheer a losing effort if we feel that they are giving 100% effort...but this team doesn't just not give you anything to cheer, they kill your spirit to the point that you don't even care enough to boo anymore.

Sure, blame the fans...

While this Saturday's game owed a fair bit to the presence of all the kids (who may cheer, but not in any organized or truly loud way), I would ascribe significantly more of the blame to the quality of play. The only real cheers came when the officials got knocked down during the play (twice).

As has been mentioned, there was very little hitting and certainly no passion from the boys in blue. These guys have the passion of the residents of the local morgue. After every whistle, they hang their heads and stare at the ice. They just seem to be going through the motions. How are we supposed to get excited about that?

I've been to over half of the Rangers' home games the past three seasons, and the fans are there and excited when the team bothers to show up.
