Yeah, pretty much. The Kings, coming into the deadline, basically have three veteran moveable assets in Miller, Sopel, and Conroy. DL is not going to send two of them to get a package centering around DeVries.

The Kings are, however, in the market for young defensemen. If you want Conroy and/or Sopel, you have to build a package around some young D talent.

That's horrible. LA has ZERO interest in deVries and needs to get younger. Don't know much about Garnett and that's not good.

Okay, you'd like Popovic, though. Forget what I said about Garnett. He did well with his call up for ATL last year, but his stats playing half the time for the Chicago Wolves this year have been dreadful.

How about Rucchin and Kapanen for Kopitar

Is Coburn still the stud D-man he was projected to be?

The jury is out on Coburn. The AHL fans were glad to see him leave. He's looked promising in Atlanta so far, but clearly parts of his game are rough. He seems to be responding to coaching. He's a very good skater for his size and can pass the puck up the ice well. He's got a good shot, but really hasn't made it part of his game yet, and he isn't the hitter he should be considering his size.

I'd give up Popovic and a 2nd.

Well, they are in town, all needed to be done is change locker rooms & jerseys after a deal...

I'd like something to happen, hopefully sooner than later.

Atl fans, if it came down to Valabik or Coburn as the piece to deal, who would you rather deal?

They seem to be about on the same level... Coburn *could* develop into a top 1-2 defenseman, Valabik *will* become a solid defensive defenseman and may someday develop minor offensive ability. Values are probably about even.

Is Oystrick considered a big part of Atlanta's future? Has some weight and is putting up decent numbers. Does he project to be a 3-4 dman or more like a 6-7?

I was just agreeing with you that I didn't like the trade either. Sorry if that was offensive or something.

Worst trade ever. Conroy is 35 with another year @ $2.4M. Sopel is not an upgrade and has another year @ $2.4M (and some people think Sutton is overpaid!). deVries is going to be a UFA, not exactly that final piece LA is looking for... Horrible proposal.

So now that you've seen them up close and personal, how do those proposals look now? We know they aren't good, that's why we keep proposing trades to get rid of them

both Sopal and Conroy are heading toward UFA and I have only seen a few reports on nathan oystrick and he might be a good 5-6 on the blue line. I would keep him and the second. But I hate rent a players.
