I agree that he has been way below average the past few weeks.

Please stick to Galchenyuk. I don't want to go inro MT's idiosyncrasies.

Except for the fact that the comparison shows how generally useless +/- is as a stat.

Galchenyuk, IMO obviously, has been significantly mishandled. How does his -2 from last night, off plays that were clearly the fault of Gorges and Prust, show that his increasingly lowered playing time is deserved?

Following from this, how does lowering the playing time of anyone make them better at the very thing the coach is preventing them from doing?

Finally, I find it perplexing that the two most common statements from those who support Therrien's usage of Galchenyuk are:

(1) He's only 19, he still has plenty to learn
(2) He's made mistakes, so he deserves his punishment

That's a recipe for success? The guy who has "a lot to learn" should be punished for, essentially, having a lot to learn? And furthermore, his punishment should be less opportunity to actually learn? So he needs to get better at playing NHL level hockey, by playing less hockey at the NHL level?

He's been playing with Prust, then being benched because of it. Alex loves having the puck on his stick, and he usually creates chances when the puck is on his stick. For some reason, Prust wants the puck on his stick as well, but just turns it over or takes a shot on net. I love Prust, but he's a grinder and agitator, why anchor Eller and Galchenyuk's line?

When Bourque was placed on their line last night, Galchenyuk started creating chances again because Bourque prefers to wait for the puck and take a shot. From what I saw, Galch created more chances than most of our other forwards. If I'm not mistaken, Bourque hit the post on 2 nice feeds from Galch.

Yes, he was -2, but what was he supposed to do? Cover Bouillon in the slot to prevent his own goal? Cover Prust's man in the slot because Prusty couldn't keep his stick down?

We had a ton of powerplays, but he'd only get on the ice for the 2nd / 3rd shift of the PP and usually with Bouillon / Gorges at the point. Desharnais' line got the bulk of the PP minutes and created nothing. Yes, he's been playing well of late, but does that mean he should be playing over 20 minutes a game like last night, when arguably one of your better forwards of the game played under 12 minutes?

Brière is like a lion, lets starve him up in the press box and bring him back when he's hungry and desperate.

If I were you, I'd stop making so much sense before getting banned.

In all seriousness though, I agree 100%. He's making mistakes, but so is every other rookie in the NHL. It's part of the learning process and you aren't going to learn anything if you're constantly being benched in favour of washed up vets who are past their prime.

Therrien has it backwards.

That last game certainly was unwatchable. My hope is the Habs won't allow themselves to be totally dominated and embarrassed like they were one week ago. A bounce-back game will really show what kind of character they have.

OH MY GOD! This just gave me an amazing idea!!!

We should organize a game like the hunger games!!!

Put an empty net with a puck in the middle of the ice and have Briere, Desharnais, Gionta, etc, fight to the death to see who gets to score.

"And may the ice be ever in your favour."

I will record it, if they win I watch, if they lose, I delete. Lame I know but teams like Florida and NJD bore the hell out of me.

That too. The guy is a borderline AHL goalie, yet he plays like Terry Sawchuk against the Habs

I do the exact same thing against Florida, NJ, Ottawa, Columbus, Nashville or the NYI. I honestly can't watch these games, even the announcers put me to sleep.

Ha, I'll heed your warning

Also, completely agree with the bolded portion; in fact, I'm really eager to see if he keeps together the Briere-Plekanec line, or dismantles it for...you know...reasons :/

Lets just hope the Habs don't make the Panthers look like the Miami Heat of the NHL.
