Félix Séguin joins TVA Sports

Looks like he's going to be "The voice of hockey" at TVA Sports. Your thoughts?

Renaud Lavoie ‏@LavoieRenaud

Well, I think he's actually pretty good. IMO, games on TVA will now be bearable...

Hilarious. I don't like him too much so I could care less.
I can't blame him for going to TVA Sports though. He's going to get more TV time and a more serious position and probably alot more money. If he's doing play by play, I'm ok with that. He's good at that.

Sucks for RDS. They are losing guys left and right. Quebecor is obviously offering a lot more money than RDS. This probably means we will see Gaston Therrien more.

I wonder who the next "insider" will be.

He's a good journalist but a horrible play by play guy...not much excitement to his voice, looks like it'll be back to the CBC on those Saturday games!

I don't like Seguin... but he's going to get a lot more experience and advice from some people. Give him time.

Smart move by Felix. He's actually downright awful and if somebody is offering him a contract he should take it and run.

Who is TVA going to acquire next to persuade me to view their channel, Francois Gagnon? Benoit Brunet? How about Mario Tremblay? Any of these fine individuals would surely attract my viewership

I hear ya, he's just very monotone, I've listened to him broadcast a few non HAB games and it's very lame, very vanilla, maybe I grew up in an era where it was Dick Irving Jr and Bob Cole and Garneau and Tremblay on radio Canada that my expectations are high

On that note. I could understand why TVA sports is taking RDS talent.
But wouldn't it be better for them to MAKE their own?

Marc Denis was pretty monotone in his first year, he is still a bit sometimes. But he's getting more and more energy as the seasons go. I don't think Seguin will EVER EVER come close to those guys mentioned but he will get better.

Seguin was my 2nd favorite play by play at RDS for hockey coverage during the playoffs, but he always ended up paired with some plonker like Therrien or Chantelois.

TVA Sports improved their product with that hire. Plus, if he gets more games in, he can only improve. He's young, and I think he has the potential to become really good.

I've been lamenting the fact younger ones don't get their shot, that it's only older guys, ex NHLers and friends that get a shot. Now a younger one that seems to be a workhorse gets a shot, and a huge one. I'm not going to whine, even if there will be some growing pains.

Now, RDS has to get a bit worried. Keeping 60 games of the Habs a year didn't stop the fact they're bleeding talent. Money might be a motivator, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was something else at hand, namely the impossibility to go up.

Not that I liked the guy, but he was way better than guys like Gaston Therrien, Normand Flynn & François Gagnon. RDS definitely needs to step up and do something about losing their big names if they want to keep a bit of credibility.

A gut that wouldn't b so bad is that guy that broadcasts the HABS game on the French radio..98.5FM I think...he's got some passion behind his voice, too late now though, gonna have to live with the growing pains. Seguin actually reminds me of Jamie Campbell when he used to broadcast the Jays game, it was painfull to listen

Remindes me a bit of WCW/WWE in the 90s. WCW taking away WWE's old talent. WWE just continued by making their OWN new talent.

RDS should take note. Bring in new young guys. Make your own talent.

Not the best play by play guy but at least he's professional. I think he's much better than Michel Langevin who is just annoying with Pedneault.

You're thinking about Martin McGuire, he's pretty good.
