You know for all the complaining that goes on here...

why dont you express it at the games? Most of you go to the games often so If there is something you dont like start a chant.

I dont take psychology but humans will ALWAYS follow when someone steps up. This year in my marching band we had a new director (which who I thought wasnt bad at all) that most of the kids didnt like. So for almost the entire season they just *****ed and moaned behind the scenes. No one had the sack to stand up against the guy if they didnt like him.

How did the " Fire Sather! " chant start? Some fan decided to finally open his/her mouth and express their disgust.

Now I know that this is a message board and there should be complaining and chants mean nothing to the managment and wont do anything. But I think that hearing these chants from the entire crowd will help you relieve some of your pent-up anger in a quicker fashion.

So the next time you go to a game, open your mouth.

I know that you guys will probably think this post is moronic, but its anger management help for some folks here (Jon Prescription, FLYline, etc.).

Don't have to worry about me, I don't shut up at the game game and I let everyone in the sections around me know how much I hate certain players, bad calls, missed calls, bad coaching moves etc.

i dont think its moronic, i mentioned it in the Fire Sather! Part Deux-Thread, to start a chant.
and you know what? i think if the whole crowd starts chating fire sather it will do more than just relief anger.
like i said, the media will pick up on it and question the coach.
just start it.. it didnt work with sather because hes unfireable.. hes a good body of dolan and dolan knows nothing about hockey, but sather knows a little, he just doesnt really give a damn at the moment because he thinks we guys are happy we went to the playoffs last year and we are still feeding from it.
show him we are not and it can happen.. Renney will go.

Some do, mostly coming from the 300s and 400s.

But I might guess that some of the biggest complainers do not attend the games, as they are too busy posting during the game

Some people just don't have it in them to do something like that. Its not a fault, its just people are born different.

people think chanting will make a difference? it will not. Other people blame Sather, Renney. It's the team on the ice that wins and loses. Face it people, our record reflects the talent we have on this team.

My friend and I tried to start a fire Renney chant during the 6-1 loss to NJ on December 17th and no one wanted to join.

Me and Petey tried doing something like that at that same game, but all of the fairweathers are down where we were.

I mean half of the people down there didn't know about the Potvin sucks chant.

Noooooo, they look at us weird when we say someone sucks. Some guy told me to watch my mouth when I yelled Malik you suck during warmups. Dancin Larry laughed at him. . Maybe we start a Fire Renney chant next time we go, lol.

Chants do not work and never have.

If anything it just annoys people who are trying to watch the game and are already cranky because the team sucks.

No one likes sitting next to "that person" who is yelling in your damn ear for 2 hours.

And while stuff like that will occassionally work in marching band, the real word is far less responsive. Just one of those little life lessons that gets beaten into your head between the ages of 21 and 30.

Or denying the Rangers their dollars which is the most effective complaint of all.

Management couldn't care less what you chant at their games so long as they're pocketing your money.

Correct. Sather has made it quite clear that he could not care less about what the fans want.

Sure and why should he or any GM in any sport do so? Fans generally act like "fans" instead of "customers," so teams treat them like fans instead of customers.

I barely go to the games, but we haven't had a good garden crowd in many years.

but who shapes what the talent on the ice is, and what they do? I just have this feeling that many of these players are not as bad as they appear. For example, Cullen has been totally disappointing, but almost all NHL players need some decent coaching and a good system (e.g. coming out of the zone, dumping in, when to trap, when to show speed and when to conserve energy etc.) applied with discipline, to be their best. I really doubt that Cullen came here with the attitude that he didn't care anymore.

How does a player as good as Shanahan get to the point where his effectiveness as a player comes into question? He never heard of such a thing in his life, because it never happened until now. Shanahan never changed, but his surroundings sure did.

I go see the odd Flames game and they come out with a chip on their shoulder, and more often than not they take it to the other team. I saw the Rangers do the same thing earlier in the year for a couple of games in a row, and I thought wow these guys could beat anyone.
So why are the exact same players so bad now? Lack of discipline from the coach, as in do the job or, as a coach, I don't play you, and I'll get someone else who will do it. That takes for granted that the coach knows how to do this, and that's a big question mark.

I'm no expert on which players to get rid of (except for the very very obvious Malik, Hall, A. Ward, Ruchanek), but I do know which coach and general manager should go. Just way too many coincidences of too many players not achieving at the same time.

So why are the exact same players so bad now? Lack of coaching, lack of direction, lack of fire, lack of discipline. You cannot replace these, if you don't have passion, forget it. It's the job of the coaches and the players to come up with this.

Players playing their best is the result of a difficult balance between coaching and the player's own initiative. I'm no expert on which players to get rid of (except for the very very obvious Malik, Hall, A. Ward, Ruchanek), but I do know which coach and general manager should go.
