Thinking about it, this is an amazing slap in the face to St Louis, great player, Art Ross winner last year, Stanley Cup winner and his OWN GM picked the team. Amazing Slap in the face.

No Seguin, so I am okay with no Hall.
The media was totally overhyping Seguin and ignoring Hall.

Bleh I knew Hall was a long shot but seeing Nash Kunitz and Carter get spots over him annoys me. Giroux should be on the team and no MSL was a tough call.

I am okay with this decision. He would have pretty much have to play in the top 6 or he's not worth his value on this team.

I'd say St. Louis is the biggest snub, then Giroux.

I'd maybe look at Seabrook over Vlasic or Hamhuis, but those were safe choices.

If they have trouble scoring goals (which is hard to fathom), then certainly you are going to hear criticism about not taking more natural wingers.

I certainly don't get taking a guy like Benn over Hall, but as many have commented, they are risk averse, and the thought that one mistake in a tension-filled game could cost a medal leads them away from Hall.

It's always been "play it safe" and I don't think that would ever change.

Also: Hall has out produced Duchene significantly over the past 3 years, so why take a C and force them to play out of position while not taking a more productive player that actually is a LW?

Very surprised about St Louis and Giroux both being left off.
Duchene plays on a surprise upstart team and had a better showing at the world championships.

If the Avalanche were again at the bottom of the league and the Oilers were fighting for a playoff spot it would likely be the other way around.

Mike Babcock name-drops Ralph Krueger as an important part of Hockey Canada thanks to experience in Europe.

Duchene vs. Hall is very obviously related to the worlds last year. Duchene impressed Hall did not and it was academic from there. As soon as Hall had the poor worlds he was out of any conversation for this team.

Play him with Getzlaf and Perry then. Or Tavares. Or Bergeron on a defensive line.

There is lots of spots for Kunitz.

He would end up being the 14th forward then.

I also think Carter is over-rated.

Did you see TSN's god damn list?!?!?

Lucic was a "notable" omission they said

And Hall? Nope, not even a mention

The guy has made a career of sliding in with elite players and fitting in exceptionally well. That will continue regardless of if he is playing with Crosby or not.

I like the defence and goaltending. Even the forward picks are hard to argue with. I would have aimed to have 2 scoring and 2 checking lines, with players playing their natural position. My lineup would look like this.

Kunitz - Crosby - St louis
Hall - Getzlaf - Perry
Sharp - Toews - Giroux
Benn - Bergeron - Nash
Tavares - Marleau

If you are Canadian, shame on you.

Can't believe Rick Nash is on the team. biggest mistake on the roster after Kunitz.

No Giroux, no MSL, no Hall.
But somehow we have Nash, Carter, and Kunitz!

This is exactly how Canada fails to leverage its talent pool and lets other countries close the talent gap. Canada still has the best team on paper, but it's much closer than it should be. They pick the team conservatively instead of going for the jugular and running 4 supremely talented lines.

Either way I don't think I can cheer for a team with Duchene on it. The guy is a *****.

I'm a little surprised James Neal doesnt get more press for not really being in consideration.

TSN talked about Carter making the team based on him being a goal scorer. Only 4 guys have scored more goals than Neal the past 3 years.

We look back to Vancouver - they were all virtually safe picks. Save Toews, and he was alright.

What picks are unsafe on this team?
Benn? Maybe he'll show up.

More then the Chemistry, the team is screwed, because it's clear Team Canada plans to ride Crosby hard, this is why they named "this" team.

Does anyone know how the taxi squad works? How many players are on it? Is the list made public, etc.? Curious to see what players are on there.
