per Renaud Lavoie, Washington placed Alexander Urbom on waivers today, perhaps New Jersey claims him back?

well, Lou wanted to send him to Albany in the first place so I can see it happening. hes unlikely to have an NHL future here though. hes not all that great, and we have better guys in the system

For what it's worth, Biron's been spotted in Buffalo ever since he retired. He must keep a home here still. I've seen a few Facebook friends saying he's come in to local stores such as Target and one who works there and got his autograph when he came up to cash out. So I have no idea of what his plans are but he's currently in Buffalo.

we've already got 8 d on the roster once larsson comes back, and i wouldn't rather have urbom than any of our waiver exempt players.

he's fine and all, but the kind of guy you can pick up pretty much any time you need for a late round pick. no need to pick him up.

But I would not bet my name on that theory. It's just that it makes sense.
When a player is 'suspended' for breach of contract (which is what would be the cause of the suspension, Biron left the team regardless of the reason) wouldn't that take his cap hit off of the Rangers salary cap structure? On the flip side, the failure to suspend him, wouldn't that leave his salary on the payroll and thus count against the cap?

If so, and I am not at certain of that, then wouldn't this gentleman's agreement actually cost the Rangers cap space? Doesn't make sense to me to do it if so, unless the only way they could get Biron to retire was to agree to keep him on the payroll until January 1st.

Frustrated that McPhee gave up on Urbom so easily. Definitely a better option than Erskine, and has substantially more potential. Even if he never lives up to it, he's not bad for a 6/7 and is paid like one. Don't get the move.

When you have a GM that gives out bloated contracts to marginal players like McPhee does and those contracts can't be moved out for whatever reason, then a player like Urbom gets put on waivers. Frankly, Urbom is better than Erskine, Oleksy or Green, defensively. In fact, Urbom should be paired with Orlov and Green should be traded. Anything conceivable that could mess up a team, the Caps have done it.

But he would need to put him back on waivers before sending down.

NJ was the original owning team. if noone else claims him we can take him and sent him to Albany. Devils beat writer confirmed it. he cant just be waived around the whole NHL endlessly

If no one else with a lower waiver priority enters a claim, as you said.

That's a different story.

NJ just put Josefson on IR for pretty much no reason, so I guess were claiming Urbom back

Well what do you know? It's almost like someone called this exactly 24 hours ago when it happened...

You've gotta love Lou. He sends Urbom down for a conditioning assignment with Washington Capitals. You have to appreciate having a farm club thats ahead of you in the standings!

Hope the Avs put in a claim...our defense has injury issues on top of being suspect already.

I would rather Klesla than Stollery from LE Monsters

Perhaps someone said they'd put in a claim this time around? Who has the cap space to claim him and is need of a defenseman?

Jets could claim him if Buff stays at forward.

He's got to be better than Ellerby.

If Klesla makes it to the minors I'll be stunned....and quite pissed off that Chiarelli didn't put in a claim.
