Croatian Hockey NT

In a few weeks they travel to Estonia to play in the Div 1. tournament, what do you think their chances are? Mostly everybody says Croatia will be relegated.

Croatia have a few players playing abroad, Ivan Glavota plays in one of the lower leagues in the United States, and we have a young forward playing in Slovakia. The team would be a little better if Bezina played for us and if somehow we can concinve a guy like Phil Oreskovic to play for Croatia

IIHF said no to him because of his dual citizenship.
It is very strange because he was born in Croatia and didnt play for any swiss nat.team

He has never played in the Croatian league so it is not strange at all.

I see no Croatian sports sites on the internet even know of this tournament, how about HRT, will they even say the score on the evening news?

I am Croat but live in America, too bad guys like Sakic and Sarich can;t play for Croatia

I also follow Slovakia (because of Chara) and hopefully one day Slovenia can make it, for Croatia, well I think its impossible

KHL Medvescak sign a Canadian player, Darcy Tuplin, he played in the OHL a few years ago with Belleville.

Surprised to see the Croatian league make quality signings

I don't know, the rules in hockey might be different from the rules in soccer. If this was soccer (and if you were good enough of course ) than yes, but I think in hockey you have to live in Croatia and play there for a few years, which is why a guy like Dario Kostovic can't play for Croatia (German born)

The Croatian hockey league is considered semi-pro i think, only Medvescak play against some good Slovenian, Hungarian teams

Dario Kostovic is 27, he was born in Split but played his hockey in Switzerland not sure which team though.

And to correct my last post, Kostovic is allowed to play for Croatia, for some reason the IHF did not let him play for Croatia in 2006

I think Canadian junior leagues are better than Croatia's league, not positive though, there are some Slovaks who play in Croatia but ones who couldn't make their league
