Hmmm, I wonder if the Russian word for January pronounced "Yanvar" comes from French at all. It looks similar.

Wow. Going to juniors? We he not getting ice time? Haven't followed Tambellini that closely.

Portland owns Tambellini's rights. They recently acquired Dumba's rights. The Wild assigned him to the Winterhawks on Monday.

4 points in 16 games. I have a feeling that was exactly the case.

As reported by @SchlossmanGF, Adam Tambellini has left North Dakota. I can confirm he has landed with the @WHLHitmen and will play tonight.
I guess Portland traded his rights?

I have a lot of negative things to say about this, but I'll hold off until such a time as any information is released about the decision. Maybe it was a thing to get closer to his family.

If he left to get ice time, its another feather in the cap of the NCAA being the best developmental league.

Portland still has Tambellini on their website as a prospect. Looks like he was traded.

If it was an ice-time issue, it would make sense. Not a lot of room for a forward to get good minutes on that roster.

Tambellini had a bit of a slow start but was just coming around. Figured to be a big offensive producer down the line.

Insinuating that ice time is earned and not given, or? Otherwise, not sure that I follow.

If it was an ice time thing, I get it to an extent. Some kids just want to play and it's not necessarily an entitlement thing. College hockey definitely won't be for everyone.

Hm. I like when players go the college route, but if it wasn't working out at UND then you can't blame the kid. The WHL should be provide him some good development. He'll be a bit of an older guy there at 19.

Still getting info but appears that @WHLHitmen sent picks to @pdxwinterhawks to get the rights to @atambo9

It could be a number of things including difficulty with classes.

Still, with how hard it is to cut it in the NHL I wouldn't say no to 4 good years of hockey, and a free degree. Even a player as decorated in the NCAA as Hagelin wanted a contingency plan.

North Dakota must cringe when they see the Rangers. JT Miller was their recruit and he bypassed them to sign with the Rangers and play in Plymouth. Now they lost another player. The Rangers probably played no role in the player leaving this time. Gordie Clark said Tambellini was a long range prospect. He might need four years at school before turning pro. Now Tambellini will play out the year in Calgary. Most likely play there next season as an overager and then go pro the next year.

That's the one thing that I'm worried about for him. Will two years be enough time for him to develop into a pro player? He needs a lot of bulking up.

I'm not a huge fan of him switching to the WHL at age 19. I would have rather he stayed in college and develop physically against more mature players.

That said, there's nothing wrong with the WHL as a developmental league and he probably gets an immediate look on their top line. Maybe it works out for him. Time will tell. Calgary is tops in the WHL at the moment. It's not a bad place for him to be in general.

Calgary plays tonight. Will he be in the lineup?

This is not good news.

Ok, so now he's closer to home, Alberta, where his family lives(His Dad is a part time scout for Anaheim but still lives in Alberta). Understandable if there are personal reasons involved, but if this purely a hockey decision, this is not good. I still don't like the idea of going to college then bolting less than one season later cause of ice time. As I recall ice time is earned. Not like North Dakota has a ton of scorers, they don't.

North Dakota is having a bad season in a mediocre conference. Is there some dysfunction there?
