I was merely reiterating Lion Hounds post (4 before mine) must have missed it. But I disagree. Dirtbag as defined by Webster's dictionary is: slang : a dirty, unkempt, or contemptible person. I'll go with contemptible for defining Carcillo. No confusion using the word dirtbag at all.

Stopped reading after 5 pages so bear that in mind.

Daniel Carcillo.

28 years old.

Seems like many posters forget this and think hes something like 35.

Look @ the +/- stats.
Guy actually can play defense, not many players are even or just slightly on minus side playing 4th line-3rd line role. He has game. Believe me.
This is not just about the stats, i have seen many games from this guy and i know im right.

Has actually some value on the ice.
Not counting in his defense abilities, he makes good passes. He is rarely stupid with the puck and he can play "the system". If coach needs him to put the puck into the boards from redline, he will surely do that, and get after it 110% speed.

Never quits.
I have never, ever seen this guy playing a game where he seems uninterested, he has heart.

---------------------

That said, there are issues with him also. He can be an idiot in the rink sometimes. Takes the wrong type of penalty at the wrong time. But as said, hes better player than 99% of the "goons" out there.

Someone asked why didnt Kings and Blackhawks keep him around.

Well here's my guess: Look @ Blackhawks and Kings roster.
Then look @ Rangers roster.

Not trying to flame you guys here, but Blackhawks and Kings are recent SC winners. The both have sick depth at the moment.
Also, as a coach you need to be able to manage this guy, keep his head straight.
Q and Sutter simply are not the type of coaches who are willing to spent time managing aggressive and hard playing players. Dunno about AV.

In Chicago, Brandon Bollig has turned to be... hmm.. how to put this... Defensively responsible keep my gloves on guy. He doesn't do agitating anymore.
Blackhawks hasn't agitated anyone for years now. He's Mr. Nice guys these days. One of the reasons might be that they have the puck all the time...

For Rangers system (I think i have seen only 1 game from Rags this year) Carcillo should fit perfectly for 3-4th line.

He will win you over.

Now, gimme that response and say im an idiot and dont know hockey. Im waiting for it.

We have seen Carcillo. Plenty of him.

He won't do anything to help this team. I'd like to be proven wrong, but I am not optimistic.

I hope so. I'm not confident.

I'll say I loathed the Sean Avery trade when we made it. I thought Marc-Andre Cliche would be a good third liner (LOL, oops), and I hated Avery.

Sean Avery is part of my top 3 favorite New York Rangers post-lockout. He won me over.

Daniel Carcillo is a thug on the ice. Has been suspended or fined 10 times. Players like that don't win you over.

Maybe when someone runs Hank, and he comes to his aid, I'll appreciate it, but I'll never fall in love with a guy like this. A rat. A dirty player historically.

Might as well put Kaleta on this team, too. And why not Brashear while we're at it.... oh.... wait a minute....

I liked Avery because he was a good player. Carcillo is a bad player and I'll adjust accordingly.

In an era of horrible and disappoiting bottom-6 role players Prust and Avery are class. I miss them both. RIP in peace.

I hope Prust makes some "Bâclé secondes" comment and we claim him on re-entry waivers.

He definately is not a bad player.

In Chicago, he played the system very well. He was never responsibility(?) in the ice for other players. He can get pucks from corners, he can shoot the puck also. Hes feisty and always gives 100% whats not to like ?

He has been suspended 6 times. Only one of those are in my opinion really really stupid and revolting.

10/17/08: 2 games

12/6/09: 4 games

3/30/10: 2 games

5/17/11: 2 games

10/13/11: 2 games

1/16/12: 7 games This one is really ****ing stupid.

As TweetyLeaf said, he's not a completely worthless player. If he wasn't a dirtbag, I think it would be easier to see the positives he brings to the ice.

I don't know that I like him playing over Miller, but whatever, we don't have control over that. If he's going to play, let's hope he at least plays well. Last night was a decent start.

last night he did his job. drew a penalty. didnt do anything stupid or retaliate last night. made some good hits as well... not bad in his limited ice time. like i said their is no need for both Moore and Boyle to be in the lineup the same game.. Miller needs ice time at the NHL level or let him dominate the AHL...

He should be playing...I really dont get AVs hate for this kid, the more ice time he gets, the better he plays.

Didn't mind Carcillo's game for his role. 4th line agitator.

Obviously Miller's a better player than Carcillo but do we want Miller playing 10 minutes or so a game on the 4th line? I'd say send Miller down and keep him down there for good, no more of this back and forth bs, and bring up Powe for the 4th line. Carcillo can play those games where it could get chippy like against the Flyers.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to see much of the game last night, so I can't judge Carcillo's play - but I'd point out that Cally's return has a lot more to do with Miller sitting than Carillo's acquisition. If the Rangers had had a player of Carcillo's ilk when Callahan returned, Miller would have been sitting for a week now.

Of course, one could argue that Miller sitting out because there's no space for him in the top 9 is something worth considering in the "Sather needs to decide" and trade threads...

Haha.

Even if he did play a great game (which he didn't) one game wouldn't mean much.

Here's his ice-time by period:
1st: 4:14
2nd: 2:19
3rd: 0:42

When he was on the ice, there was three times as many shots directed to Lundqvist than Crawford. I wonder what it would have taken for those who wanted to see him play well to think he didn't.
