He's not costing us games with turnovers or lazy defensive play in the last few games so I guess that's an improvement.

Yea... wouldnt say Mez has looked great. Pretty much an average 3rd pairing defender.

Yeah...an improvement from "Hungover hobo" level to "4 million dollar 5/6 guy" level isn't all that impressive to me.

I don't really like Mez that much. When he won the Barry Ashbee trophy he was getting sheltered minutes. Physically he has the talent but mentally he's always been questioned. His Hockey IQ seems below average.

He has been a pleasant surprise the last couple of games. Team Slovakia may have found a gem .

I'm liking what I am seeing.

Hard to say if we would be better off holding onto him or trading while hot.

With Seidy hurt, Boston will be looking for a D.

As crazy as it is, if we are in the playoffs we need to keep him. You always need 7 guys on D and if he is playing well, that is like a deadline pickup for Philly.

Yeah at this point in the season I'd probably only trade Meszaros if we're getting a much better defender in return. Not that I think Mez has flipped the switch back to 2011 but in the playoffs were gonna need every defender we have.

wait, mez's contract is up at the end of this season or next?

i'm aware this is an incredibly small sample-size, but he keeps this up, i wouldn't mind having the guy back at a reduced salary.

I think we should keep Mez this season. More defensive depth is needed. I don't expect him to play every game like he is tonight but if he's above average then that's cool.

He's the type of guy who will come out next game, be overaggressive and get caught up ice leaving his partner to defend multiple odd-man rushes. Great game tonight, but I'm not sold yet.

The potential horribleness of the Schenn - Meszaros pairing continues to terrify me. Schenn discovering he could do spin-o-ramas mid-game a couple games back was the worst discovery since zeppelins.

let's be honest...This isn't probably our year. If we can get say a second rounder for him we should take it. We need all the farm we can.

basically what the sharks did with murray.

And since Gus has played well so far this season, it definitely makes Mez expendable. If we could get a second round pick, I would bite. And if he can continue his solid play for a few weeks some teams would maybe give up a first if they are in injury trouble.

I didn't get to watch tonight's game, but one 3 assist game doesn't undo the horror and destruction I've seen on the back end while he is on the ice in the rest of the games.
