Habs cookbook = a Bad recipe = All smoke in the kitchen again

Montreal currently sits 28th overall in 5 on 5 regular season scoring.
So what's the chance this recipe turns out?

Cup Winners 1997 to 2013
Regular season 5 on 5 scoring rank

1997-98 Detroit 2nd
1998-99 Dallas Stars 12th
1999-00 New Jersey 19th
2000-01 Colorado 8th
2001-02 Detroit 5th
2002-03 New Jersey 6th
2003-04 Tampa Bay Lightning 3rd
2005-06 Carolina 4th
2006-07 Anaheim 7th
2007-08 Detroit 1 st
2008-09 Pittsburgh 4th
2009-10 Chicago 2nd
2010-11 Boston 1st
2011-12 LA Kings 29th
2012-13 Chicago 2nd

--------------------------------------

Jacques Martin Era...

2009 -10
Halak saves the playoffs miracle
Reg season 5 on 5 goals rank 30th (last in Nhl)
Total reg season goals for 210 avg /2.56 a game
Playoff goals for avg 2.42 a game

2010-11 Season
One round and done in playoffs
Reg season 5 on 5 goal rank 23rd
Reg season avg goals for /2.52 per game
total reg season goals 207 goals
Playoff goals for avg 2.42

2011-12
Tank season 3rd overall draft pick
Reg season 5 on 5 goals rank 20th
total goals scored 213 goals
avg goals for /2.52 per game

-------------------------------

Michel"Jacques"Therrien era...

2012-13
Whip the horse ,Sprint to finish season 48 games
Playoff beat down
Playoffs goals for avg 1.80 vs Jacques Martin's special sauce of 2.42 a playoff game.

2013-14
Full season at the Wheel
Reg season 5 on 5 goals rank 28th
reg season avg goals for 2.52
On pace for 200-213 goals scored in 82 games
Déjà vu SINCE 2009

Wrong recipe Habs are using(again).

THIS TEAMS current record in 2013-14 is a mirage(most are happy with the record), BUT it's a mirage created by Carey Price.

Fact is last 15 CUP WINNERS Not one team has won a cup scoring 1.80 -2.42 -2.52 goals a game in the playoffs

Fact is last 15 Cup winners,12 of the 15 teams that won the Cup ,had a 5 on 5 regular season scoring rank in top 10.One team only in last 15 years has one a cup with a regular season 5 on 5 goal rank over 20th .

When will they ever clue in?
All smoke.....

Montreal currently sits 4th in goals against average per game. Looks like the cook isn't half bad.

Here is the GAA for the same time period.

Just playing devil's advocate here because there is no doubt the Habs need better 5 on 5 scoring, but you need strong team defense just as much, and that they have. You need both unless you're a superpower offensively.

1997-98 Detroit 7th
1998-99 Dallas Stars 1st
1999-00 New Jersey 7th
2000-01 Colorado 4th
2001-02 Detroit 4th
2002-03 New Jersey 4th
2003-04 Tampa Bay Lightning 11th
2005-06 Carolina 20th
2006-07 Anaheim 7th
2007-08 Detroit 1 st
2008-09 Pittsburgh 17th
2009-10 Chicago 6th
2010-11 Boston 2nd
2011-12 LA Kings 2nd
2012-13 Chicago 1st

Did we fire the Chef Martin?
Why do we got the exact same numbers IN 2014, after he's been fired?
The new chef read his cook book? The team is on same failure path.

Identical!

This team is cooking on, to continue to fail...2.42-2.52 goals a game 207 goals a year,20-30th in 5 on 5 scoring ,don't work for any CUP WINNER.

To me the numbers don't lie.....

Kitchen puns aside, take it for what its worth, but don't dwell on it. I like to get excited for the playoffs too, but lookup a contenders roster and stats. We aint' there yet.

Will never be there either....we havent got better without Martin...
We got the exact same numbers....and last year our 1.80 goals for in playoffs, was much WORSE than our old Chef Martin...who would always cook up 2.42+ ...which was far from ever being the bench mark for any Cup winner.....

Why are we going back ,and behind with a better roster?
Again ,stagnation and regression...Price who is masking the failure.
It's like we never fired the old coach.

One day the Habs will have a PPG player at the end of the regular season.

When the playoffs come and we don't score people will be so shocked. If you suck 5 on 5 you will not do ANYTHING in the playoffs. Same old story for the Habs over and over again.

Not a full season....everyone went full out(sprint/playoff style) from day 1 too.
What i want to know is ,why do we have the same numbers as
Jacques Martin as head coach, in 2014??
BonJovi: "It's all the same, only the names have changed" "every day,it seems we're wastin away"

2013 -2014 Montreal
Reg season 5 on 5 goals rank 28th
reg season avg goals for 2.52
On pace for 200-213 goals scored

IDENTICAL to Martin, right to the tee.

The numbers in my first post(5 on 5 scoring /playoff scoring ),tells everyone,we are just pretending STILL .

Mike Johnson said the players and Budaj were looking at Therrien to get the signal for pulling the goalie, but Therrien never acknowledged anyone.

Prust won a fight, they got to 20 shots, and didn't get shutout!

He was probably not aware that we were down 2 goals with a few minutes left in the 3rd

Team has been pathetic for 5 weeks now and I have no faith in Therrien and losing faith in Bergervin.

Just another pair of clowns that will prolong the 20 year drought!
