The best things about TSN 1260's holiday season programming? Oil Kings & WJHC broadcasts. The worst things? TSN has no radio crew in Malmo so we're just getting the audio feed of the TV call. That's minor compared to the insanity-causing repeats of the same segments from ESPN's Dan Le Batard Show over and over and over for hours & days on end. Cheap, lazy programming again that I hoped would disappear when Bell Media rebranded the station.

Personally I find a little or even a lot of on-air arrogance to be entertaining- as long as there is at least a small undercurrent of humility to be found under the surface as well. The great John Short did it without the arrogance but the majority of my all-time radio favorites: Howard Stern, Jim Rome, Don Percy, Bill Matheson, Cubb (now Cam) Carson, Bob Stauffer and Jason Gregor had many arrogant moments but also subtly showed that they don't really take themselves too seriously.
John Short was easily the best of the local radio hosts. Always treated his callers with respect whether they deserved it or not. Never any arrogance on his part. IMO, sports talk radio in Edmonton starting going downhill with Sid Smith with every host knowing more than his predecessor.

Nothing in the world annoys me more than those awful Spence Diamond commercials on 1260. I just needed somewhere to vent that.

Those commercials can be heard on multiple stations in any Canadian city that has a Spence Diamonds store. I do wonder however if any other Edmonton stations air those horrific Playmore Tables & Games spots.

Post-show show was a good concept but Fraser really ruins it.

Fraser is pretty bad, better than Chase for sure but that's not saying much, he's a different kind of bad.

I disagree. In my opinion Fraser counterbalances Nielson's man-child personna quite nicely, moreso on The Post-Show Show than during the actual radio show.

Chaser > Fraser.

I said it.

At least with Kyle you knew he was going to stay stupid things because he was dumb....Fraser pretends to be dumb and it's a bad schtick.

I don't think Fraser is pretending.

Example: He put Ben Bishop on his Canadian Olympic team.

Chaser > nobody. Okay, if I'm being charitable: Chaser slightly > Tony Fiorillo (the other guy that they let host a show with the deadly combination of no professional broadcasting experience and zero inclination to learn).

If I have to choose, I'll take a person acting like a buffoon (Wil) over the the genuine article (Kyle) any day.

Where would Jake Daniels rank? Or how about Ron Rimer?

Chaser way ahead of those clowns.

Jake's a veteran broadcaster who, in a failed experiment, was badly miscast on a sportstalk station. He's back where he belongs on rock radio.

Rimer was just about as bad as Chase but without the excuse of being a broadcasting novice. Both of these two are now where they belong: nowhere near the airwaves.

Bishop is the reason TB isn't in a lotto position right now, so it's not a bad choice to have him there. He is a full goal less than Smith on the GAA and .935spct as opposed to Smith's .910 who is in Tippett's system.

Fraser is an embarrassment. Some of his rants are absurd making no sense and his saying that ben bishop should be team Canada's 3rd goalie proved his hockey knowledge is limited.
Any good sports broadcaster would have known he was American as it was just a week before people were debating y he missed out on team usa.

Fraser also said that getzlaf and perry shouldn't be on team canada because they would be exposed . Both were locks having great seasons on the top team in the nhl.

Skating on Olympic ice was his thought, and that's not wrong, but geez lighten up some of you, Fraser's a way more polished professional then Chase.

Professional?
Fraser??

We are talking about the same guy here right?

Anyways, stick a fork in TSN. With Tencer off the sports shows, Ched is going to continue dominating both the noon and evening slots.

True, and that's fine, no one will really argu...oh wait, everyone seems to hate Stauffer for being an Oilers employee.

Yes, Professional, not in terms of "hey can you come run my company", more in terms of the way he presents himself on-air, I like the Morning Show on TSN, I really do.

Remember, we are comparing him to Kyle Chase. As Jimmi J. would know, there's a lot more to being a 'professional' than what we hear on the air- especially in an all-talk format. Let's just say your boy Chaser wasn't big on show prep.
