This game will be an interesting litmus test for Berube. The Lightning gave Laviolette's teams fits in recent years, no matter where they were in the standings.

I suspect this effect rates from somewhere near non-existent to very small and completely overblown. I may take some time to go through the gamelogs and see if there's any truth to it. At the very least, it's highly amplified by confirmation bias. Losses to backups just stick out more and are easily fit into the narrative, while it appears the wins are quickly forgotten.

Glad it's in Philly - I have always hated watching any of the old southeast home games.
Granted - there were some good teams. There's just never any life in any of those buildings and it makes for crappy tv viewing. It's quiet as hell, the camera angles seem bad, the HD seems dull and the lights seem lower. So much more fun to watch a game broadcast from a traditional hockey market - so much more energy.
Atlanta was probably the worst of the bunch. Washington has a pretty good building, but I agree, the rest are still very dull on a usual night.

When I switched on the devils game I hadn't heard the news (wasn't really following the whole thing), but the NBC guys were in the middle of it and I tuned in too late to hear the subject they were discussing. The way they were talking about him, about how brave he was to face the media right now, about how sad he seemed, I **** you not I am not exaggerating, for the next 15-20 minutes I was fully convinced that his father had died sometime within the last 24 hours
I don't think people realize just how mediocre Tampa is without Bishop and Stamkos. They're still a quality team, but very beatable and Lindback frankly doesn't belong in the NHL it seems and most of the Tampa fans agree about that.
They're a team that needs Bishop because he's an excellent goalie and the rest of their goalie options suck.
So Mason against either Lindback or Desjardins (sp?). I'm confident either way.
Hoping McGinn scores again...i cant believe we didnt keep him up before. leader of our team in goals and they sent him down.
He got lucky. I'm glad he did, but he doesn't really bring anything we need. If he somehow keeps his scoring touch I'll be glad to keep him in, but if he's not scoring he's redundant with Hartnell and Simmonds (who are scoring lately).
