Dang, judging by Sports 30, it didn't look like there was a lot of hustle at the Youngstars game...

That's putting it lightly. The game only got remotely exciting towards the end when the West game within a goal of tying it up with a couple minutes left.

Nobody knew what they were supposed to be doing it seemed. A bunch of players shot at the end without making 2 passes. And why were the wing players restricted within the faceoff circle? It was ridiculous.

I think the NHL did away with the old style rapid fire because a few years ago, Mike Richter got badly hurt in one of those competitions. Because of that, they had to introduce this stupid event in which nobody knew the rules.

I watched the whole event and was really disappointed. The Young Stars game not only lacked intensity (even for a game of glorified pond hockey), but was played at less than half speed. If it was supposed to be a showcase for the games young stars then it was a failure. Watching players skate around at half speed while the defensive team just stands around is not exciting and does not provide a showcase for what these players are capable of. The amount of cherry picking was sad. Goals don't automatically create excitement.

The production of the Skills Competition was lousy too. There was very little excitement in it. Also they should have done the breakaway relay (where every player on the ice gets a chance to score) at the end instead of that 1-on-1 shootout.

Sooo... can we maybe sweep it back under the rug and give it back to Phoenix in 2009? Avoid the embarrassment?

They've done that for a while, and this year was the worst one I've ever seen.

Nothing amazing happened this season in terms of amazing goals, except perhaps that McDonald breakaway that was pretty sweet.

Nice to see Souray break 100mph, which is pretty hard to do with these composite sticks. For those who don't know, composite sticks don't really improve slapshot speed. That's why the guys who have huge slapshots have as little whip in the stick as possible.
