Another reason why I can't see giving up much for him. Its not that he isn't a great player, I just don't see where he would fit with the Islanders and do well for himself and our team.
He belongs on a team with strong defensive dmen and a decent netminder. He'd be a huge asset under those circumstances.

Maybe even a guy you switch back and forth depending on the opposing team?
Calllllled it!

For example, if they draft at 10, it's probably fair. If they draft 3rd, then Hamonic maybe the Jets have to add a 3rd, etc. It's pretty impossible to tell but the Islanders will definitely be getting the best player in the deal and yeah, I know Hamonic is your first pairing D but you are getting an upgrade that I think you'll be able to deal with.
Buff for Hamonic and a 1st??

Where do I Sign.......... your committal papers

Hamonic is better than Buff by far...... the 1st would be from, not to winnipeg

no way in hell is Buff an upgrade on Hamonic

Maybe Bogo at his best, is. but not Buff

You are overrating Hamonic way too much.

no im not, our defense Is not good

Amac and Hamonic are asked to play over their heads every night. until they are given some real support you cant see how good they truly are.

I agree, Hamonic and a 1st would be a stupid trade for the Islanders. But your post said that Byfuglien and Bogosian are not upgrades over Hamonic. They're both very good defensemen too, I think better than Hamonic.

I think KC would be interested in Reinhart + Donovan + 2nd + 3rd

I said Bogo at his best is better, but im sorry you are dead wrong about Buff. put Buff in for Hamonic and our offense is better, But defensively we'd collapse. our Goaltending would be horribly exposed. Buff is too slow and inconsistant positionally.

With Buff instead of Hamonic we'd have a worse record and a ton of 7-5 games. Buff would be better on a team like Vancouver with a better defensive core where he can play "His Game" and the other defenders cover for him.

Here Hamonic does the covering, because we have a weak defense

I Islanders just need to run their course. They have a good stable of young prospects in the cupboard with another on the way with this year's pick. Since they'll obviously have to give their first to Buffalo next year for Vanek, it makes this year's pick all the more important.

The Isles need defensive defensemen....and they're even tougher to come by than the blueline gunslingers that put up points but sport heinous +/- numbers.

The players the Isles would have to give up in order to acquire the kind of d-man they covet, via trade, is going to cost them a piece that no Islander fan on this board is going to be willing to give up. You may be able to acquire someone on an expiring contract more cheaply, but then you have to hope you can re-sign him.

Not a chance in bloody hell Reinhart goes anywhere. He has top pairing d-man written all over him.

we've done pretty well with waivers, some guys we've picked up doing big things for our club. that might be another thing to look to as guys get dropped in the offseason
