I belive so. We only got Pck and Baranka now, Girardi is better defensivly then Pck, especially more consistant there. I see no reason why they wouldn't play him there for atleast a game.

Its very unusual that a D only are given a couple of minutes, especially when we don't have D's on the other two pairings who are capable of playing 30 minutes.

That's assuming he gets into the lineup, Ola.

Yeah, you can't really dress a defenseman and then not give him a decent amount of minutes in a game, unless you're going with 7 defensemen. Very doubtful the Rangers go with 7, so the real question is will Girardi get into the lineup and who will sit in his place.

Once he's in, he'll get some minutes. It's too much of a burden on the rest of the defense if he doesn't.

In Tom Renney's world these players are banished to the bench or the minors, in favor of old retreads. In the real hockey world they have a total of 29 goals and 70 points between them at the all-star break.

And Tom Renney isn't the only one to blame here. Maloney can't come on a radio station and pontificate about youngsters getting ready when we all know they won't be given a real opportunity to play and learn.
Yeah thats exactly what he did with Prucha last season...

No actually he didn't. Prucha played well though, without scoring. His first three games, he had 0 goals. Then scored two in a row. Then went the next 10 games with one goal and one assist. Something Dawes and Co. didn't do, play well that is.,

Also on Maloneys comments, he basically exactly said what allot of us are saying here. That we got around 9-10 kids who are looking really good, wouldn't be suprised at all if 8 of them makes it. Though, there still have to be a point in playing a kid. Playing a D who aren't ready at MSG is as you probably know insane, hed get booed for the rest of his career. Dawes clearly weren't ready and need to pick up his game, something he can do best in the AHL.

Renney brough in 5 rookies last season that stuck, and one who were traded for Sykora, thats 6. Thats a fact. And don't come up with something like Renney only did that because they were "good".

In terms of 2-way hockey Girardi have been better then Pck in the AHL, so I don't see any reason why he couldn't challenge Pck for his spot. In terms of style he is a much better fit next to Rachunek then Pck is.

At the same time Pck have allot more experience of the NHL. He got his feet wet two seasons ago, and have been around the team allot this season, so he got a edge there.

I am not sure who will come out on top between the two, but I wouldn't be suprised if Girardi can take Pck's spot.

He is a draftee, 20 years old and has never been called up before.

Did I miss something or did the NHL change the rules over the weekend such that any player involved in any internal transaction is now exposed to waivers? If Jags goes on IR for his groin to we have to worry about him getting snapped up when he comes off the list?
he did not say that they don't want to recall dubinsky because they would have to expose him to waivers, he said they would have to expose another forward to waivers.

we are at the roster limit so in order to call someone up, we'd have to get rid of someone (ie kaspar getting waived so girardi can come up). so before dubinsky can be recalled we must either trade or waive one of j ward, hall, krog, orr, etc. they aren't ready to make that move at this moment which means dubinsky has to wait. once that veteran gets moved, dubinsky can get called up at any time with no restrictions...

my guess is they are trying to trade someone before just waiving them.

No actually the Chicago Bears took him at 11:59, Lovie was quoted as saying "We wanted to shore up our defense before the big game, Girardi is a hard hitting defenseman so we were delighted to see the Rangers try and call him up."

read the 3rd page of this thread.
