Funny you mention MDZ. I was hoping CDH would turn into MDZ, they were similar draft choices, similar stats their draft year, and CDH basically took MDZ's ice time when MDZ was traded along with JT to London. That's why I was so down on CDH, I thought we drafted him to be that offensive defenseman, and I never saw that ability. NOW I am seeing it in spades. I see a confident player with very good outlet passes leading to goals, but also, I see him not being afraid to make that rush up ice, AND that pass to Tavares on the game winner was just amazing. A highlight reel pass. I am slowly getting that crow parmagiana recipe out of the cupboard. Seeing what everyone else is seeing, a fine young all around defenseman.

lol... I don't think many people are "told you so" ing at all. He missed so much time even his most passionate fans had to lower their expectations somewhat. If anything I would bet he is better than everyone thought he could be, except maybe his Mom, Dad, etc. IMO, he deserves some Calder votes if he keeps playing this well.
I'm just I told you soing because of all the flak I took years ago when I said he had the stuff to be an NHLer...just set back by injuries...

I ate crow on Donovan...

I just recently puked it up haha.

John Tavares about CdH:

“only a few guys in the league I’ve seen that can do that”

On avoiding contact and being able to skate/get puck out of trouble and avoid forecheck.

For those that have twitter, someone should tweet that to CdH to let him know how much appreciate his play. If he acknowledges it, that would be hilarious.

Regardless of what happens as far as the standings go, the emergence of de Haan is a big win for us this year.

It's all good. Watching deHaan makes me not care about Donovan at all.

I wonder what Lindy was thinking after that pass. Remember Buffalo's reaction after Snow picked him? Different club now, but I bet he knew who he was.

Great game from Cdh. I am shocked at how physical he is. He destroyed someone near the end of the game in our corner.

Gotta give some props to you Blinkman as you have always touted him. I would be in the camp that had written him off due to his injuries and I hope some crow is served up when he allays those fears.

There is still a long way to go before anointing him, but he has been the most pleasant surprise so far this year. I hope CdH keeps it up and my crow comes with a side of bernaise sauce.

Wait until they finally put him on the PP. You guys haven't seen anything yet.

Well he's going on the next jersey. He is so damn good it's disgusting. Garth Snow is really building something special - we just need a bonafide number 1 goalie and how can anyone not get the feeling we could make a run at this thing? Esp if this kid continues like this - he's a damn rock!

And that's the #1 reason I'm not worried about him anymore. We saw plenty of Isles, like Streit and Okposo, come back from long injuries not quite the same, or flat out awful playing not to get hurt.

deHaan is not doing that. He is in fact playing the polar opposite of that, leading with his body when he needs to. If there was even a hint of an old injury there I can't see him playing the way he is, and that is just huge.

Listen to everything they say about de Haan. Upside pick. Doesn't know how good he can really be yet. High end hockey IQ, skating, poise. Offensive skill. It's crazy that the CdH we've been seeing lately, they were right on with the projection. Hopefully we'll see the PP skills in action. Wake up coaching staff!

Yeah

Wouldn't have been a bad pick either, but I'm glad we got CdH.

We desperately need a presence like his on the blueline.

The way his hat was screwed up when posing for pictures annoyed me then, it still annoys me now. He was really happy though, all red faced too.

CdH could evolve into a Kenny Jonsson type, more so than anything we've had since.

Yeah I saw that, I was thinking, holy crap that was de Haan who just crushed that guy. Obviously he's been working on his strength too. Imagine if he could ever get to 200 pounds. Loved Tavares' reaction after scoring against Dallas, pointing to de Haan and basically saying, what a great ****ing pass !
