Strome made the AHL All-Star team.

playing half a season and being 20 years old, i think it says a lot about how he is perveived around the league.

good for him.

have a nice day!

Love the way this kid plays. Has great offensive instincts, excellent hands, and good speed. He's gonna be a good one, may not be tearing up the NHL this season, but I bet by the end of the season he'll be an important part of this team (along with Nelson), and next season I wouldn't be shocked if he scored 60+ points for us.

He already looked very good on the PP when Okposo was out. Crisp passes and some nice scoring attempts, wasn't afraid to shoot even though Tavares and Vanek were out there.

Strome is looking more and more comfortable out there. He's got obvious skill, but he's a very cerebral kid and you can see the wheels churning in his head. He is so concerned with his defensive assignments, he's not fully ready to break out offensively. He will never be physically imposing, but he does a nice job of using the body. If he wasn't a lacrosse kid, he sure looks like he was because he's got the hand skills and the ability to roll off of contact nicely. He competes and is a feisty kid, I really do love seeing that. I think the Isles have him a good situation on the 3rd line, Clutterbuck has to learn to pass him the puck and let him be the one to drive the play - loving his beard though. I'd like to get him on the PP, but there's no room for him right now on the #1 unit. They should keep Nelson with him, they fit well together.

If you look at it, the Isles have handled Strome amazingly well. He needs to make an impact at ES with the current line up and he needs to be defense first. He might not put up the stats that we all want him to, but this will make him a better player in the end. We all knew Strome is an offensive wizard, but he could develop into more than that if he continues to progress. He's shown me that he's NHL ready, but it'll take time until he starts making a big impact. After the Olympic break, he could break out. He has all the look of that happening. Factor in the possible return of Visnovsky who will undoubtedly get big minutes with JT's line, Strome's line could get increased minutes with CdH-Hammer. All the ingredients are there for Strome to really open some eyes.

I watched the Notre Dame game and noticed the opposing goalies name was Rosen. Any relation to the infamous Cody Rosen ?

Anyone know why Sundstrom and Persson are not playing for the ST?
Are they injured once again?

Same with Pedan and Finley, it's a like a blackhole trying to find anything out.

Persson just returned from a lengthy injury. According to LHH he was out injured last night, no specifics.
Sundstrom is out with an "illness", no specifics. It has been a few games now. Two of our remaining top 3 forward prospects not called up, can't find out a thing about them.

Edmonton at Kootenay, tonight.
Pelech may end up being a physical 3rd pairing guy in the NHL, but even within that classification there are guys who can move the puck a little and guys who can't. Pelech may not be an offensive defenseman in the NHL, but I'm hoping he at least becomes one of those guys who isn't an offensive/puck-moving liability. With everything else he seems to bring to the table, a little transition ability and offense would be a bonus.

Ya think playing in the WJC gave Pelech any confidence ? 33 points in 35 games now.

Pelech does a lot of things really well. He just has an awkward skating style, not smooth at all. But it will be very interesting to see how he develops.

Nice, will be nice to see some of the other names. Dal Colle is supposed to compare very favorably with Tavares in terms of skillset. Both Oshawa products and with skating deficiencies and all! With CdH beasting, I think we like Oshawa players.

Just checked the standings, the Islanders at this moment would go into the lottery with the 5th pick, even with the recent hot streak. Guess we better tune in.

Posted this in another thread, but might as well put it here where it really belongs....

Anders Lee is currently 4th in scoring in the AHL and 1st in goals among rookies.

3 of the current top 4 rookies in the AHL are/were Islander draft picks... (Strome, Lee, Kichton)

It's great to see Lee playing well. I think he spends the entire season in the AHL and then will compete like everyone else for next year's team. If Nelson and Strome can continue to progress, Lee could find himself on a kid line with them that could do some damage.

Is Lee playing LW or C lately? His versatility to play both would be a big bonus for him.

One thing you have to be impressed about Garth is his drafting. Especially since we have no $$ for scouting. lol. People say he has improved with all high picks...not true

2008 :
1st Bailey -trade down was good,
2nd Hammer
4th Donovan & Ullstrom ( still think he can play next yr for us)
5th Matty Martin & Poulin

2009:
1st JT & de Haan - trade up not so bad now..see if he can keep it up
2nd Koskinen
3rd Nilsson
4th Cizikas
6th Lee

2010:
1st Nino- good pick, bad trade & Brock Nelson

2011
1st Strome
2nd Mayfield & Sundstrom
3rd Pedan
4th Russo

2012
1st Griff
2nd Pokka
3rd Pelech

2013
1st Pulock

Not to mention Spurgeon & Kichton in the 5th & 6th rds !

Maybe the line up next year :

Vanek JT KO
Bailey Strome Nelson
Grabner Nielsen CC
Martin Casey Lee

Cmac & Ullstrom extras

Vis Hammer
Grif de Haan
Hickey Strait

Carkner & Donovan extras

Poulin
Nilsson

Hopefully a UFA signing or two but thats 16 drafted players on the team or 23 man roster

Garth is very good at the draft. I don't know how anyone could disagree.

Just took a look on the Sound Tigers site, the line for last night was Lee at LW, some guy I never heard of Andrew Clark in the middle and Bouchard on the right.
Second line was Diamond, Quine and Halmo.
There are so many players currently playing for Bridgeport who weren't there when the season started.

Sam Bennett won't be playing. He's currently out with, I believe, a groin injury. He missed Kingston's game on Sunday versus North Bay.

Disappointing for him that he won't be able to show off his stuff against his draft peers, especially after he moved up to #1 in the CSS rankings for North American skaters.
