Roy is better then Hodgson at this moment. He was our third line center.

Look at the clothes, he didn't gain "ascetic [sic] sense."

And given his self-indulgent play on the ice I doubt he's gained much ascetic sense, either.

AV didn't seem to know what to do with Roy. Showed some chemistry with Higgins; but come playoff time, he takes Higgins off his line. Granted, Roy didn't really show alot for AV to have any confidence in him.

But hey, this is a Kassian thread.....better to have a guy like him for $870K than a defensibility liabilty making $4.25 million right now (...and I ain't talking about Roy - actually Roy makes slightly less than that )

And if Hodgson were still present that wouldn't have changed because, well, he isn't a good center (yet). Find some Buffalo games the past season and a half and take a look for yourself. San Jose, LA, Chicago etc would be salivating at the chance to get their big lines out against the him in an important game. Just as teams do now. He is essentially a PP specialist at this point in his career. His 5-on-5 play is simply terrible.

damn...I fell for the thread derail.

Ill Just go ahead and ask the question...

If buffalo is on the line right now, and somehow you can fit hodgson into the cap without moving anyone else... do you send them kassian back?

I keep kassian, and trust me... I am definatly one who bashed this trade up and down left and right and just about anywhere else I could. Think i was wrong!

EDIT: Dont mean to derail the thread just looking for a couple responses

Not that I'm trying to get in on the bash Coho wagon but his clothing line is as useless as Darcy Tucker's "kewl" line. Who would buy that crap? Incidentally, Coho doesn't have the form to model anything. He's short and he has no chin.

I'd keep Kassian as well. Still have no room for Hodgson - even if you move Kesler to the wing I like Santorelli over Hodgson as the 2C. And while Kassian is still an unfinished project, I still really like what he _can_ become. Hodgson on the other hand is nearer to being a finished project IMO and what he is now is not what we need. A good PP player for sure, and can provide good offense from the 2C spot but is and may always be a defensive liability. No thanks.

Uh, has Zach made a play that comes close to this ...

Cody backchecks (LOL) and takesway a puck from E. Staal and then finishes ...

I think he also scored the shootout winner against the Caps in his first game back from injury ... (amazing video quality, btw)

I remember Zach talking a lot about "choking" on the shootout after he missed his opportunity recently.

So you would rather have Andrew Ebbet. Ok ..

2 seasons pissed away with no good replacement center

Adding a rental was a band aid solution. Roy didn't start the season with us

And Roy couldn't be re-signed to a a similar one year deal because, Uh, the Canucks had a 4.25M AAV anchor on the books on LTIR they couldn't CBO.

Id send him back in no time. He's signed for 4.5 and he will likely get better. Even by next year, with the cap going up, his deal will look fine.

We could develop him properly. Sure, you think we dodged a bullet cuz he's playing on the worst team bag not being developed properly at all

So if Hodgson loved Vancouver and his parents lived here , we would have traded him away still ? Or would we have found a place for him ?

Speaking of Cody Godson he has almost reached the 100 career points milestone.

It has not been a happy time for Cory Schneider in New Jersey so far - time to hit the reset button and get rid of a negative mindset. Devils' Cory Schneider admits negativity had crept into his mind
“I’m generally not a negative person. And there was no negativity coming from the team and the guys,” Schneider told The Star-Ledger Wednesday. “But sometimes you do get into a negative place where you get upset more easily and get irritated more easily.

“Maybe you should channel that into working harder and being positive and trying to fix the mistakes rather than getting annoyed at them. That was just me being hard on myself as opposed to anything else. I want to win and I like to win. When you’re not doing it, it weighs on you a little bit.”
...
“I think he really reset himself after Christmas,” the coach said. “It was a frustrating first half, not just for him, I think for everybody with how we started. None of us are in the spot we wanted to be in. To his credit, when you speak to him, I know he went home and hit reset and he’s been fantastic.”

Just like that? Hit the reset button?

“Sometimes when it’s not going the way you like, when you’re in it every single day it’s hard to take a step back and gain some perspective and pull positives out of it,”

Schneider explained. “I’m pretty tough on myself. I expect a lot out of myself and I don’t want to let myself off the hook for anything. Sometimes maybe I can be a little too hard on myself. I wasn’t playing my best in December. Just getting away for a few days, being around fanily for the holidays sort of gets your mind away from all the negative thought and all the things that are on your mind. You kind of come back with a new mentality. Just sort of try to sort all over again instead of carrying the stuff you’d been carrying the last few weeks.”

As much as Hodgsons a ****** Corys learning what its like to be a nice guy.

Far too patient. Got the run around here and now in NJ.

Personally I hope he does for himself and gets himself a big fat ass UFA contract.

That and it was heavily rumoured almost the day after he got here that he had no intention of re-signing in Vancouver. And then mailed in the rest of the season.

Steve Pinizzotto to the Oilers.
The Edmonton Oilers have acquired centre Steve Pinizzotto and winger Jack Combs from the Florida Panthers in exchange for centre Ryan Martindale and winger Derek Nesbitt.

Pinizzotto, 29, has recorded seven points (six goals, one assist) and 67 penalty minutes in 21 games this season with the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage.

As baseball manager Leo "The Lip" Durocher said in 1946 -

“The nice guys are all over there, in seventh place.”

The quote was about about the 1946 New York Giants – seventh place was last place in the National League in those days.

It would later be condensed to the aphorism "Nice guys finish last" and Durocher would use that as the title of his autobiography.

Could've held out on signing his first contract with the Canucks (had good reason considering Luongo wasn't going anywhere) and become a free agent but still signed with the Canucks. He's due for some good karma.
