Problem is there are no Suters this year lol.

Yeah, you're right. So that means they shouldn't be throwing that kind of money around until there is. And hopefully we get someone better than Suter.

Agreed for the most part. The Avs don't need Vanek and the added salary. However, I would be ok with moving PAP for a defensemen.

Anybody else sense a move coming? I just feel like with all the injuries recently and how bad our D has been all year that a move may be on the verge. I hope Roy stays Patient and doesn't do anything drastic.

I wish Elliott and Siemens were healthy. Id have no problem giving them a few games with the big club while we're hurting for players but it seems like everyone in our organization is hurt. If Stastny is unable to play tomorrow I think Sgarbossa or Hishon will get called up. I think Staz will be good to go though. If not i'm sure they already would have made a call up.

I'll guess Agozzino or Carey. I guess we'll know for sure soon.

DVG called up after 2 games back from injury. I'm guessing he was the guy because of NHL experience. Sgarbo played a few games last year and is healthy now so my bet is he's the guy they call on if needed. Id be fine with Aggo though. He has definitely earned a chance.

I don't sense a move coming because of the injuries

Seriously though, unless its a trade involving draft picks from our side an no players, I don't think we have an available players for trade that aren't injured.*

Honestly, if a move doesn't come shortly the front office is either confident the current core can get the Avs to the playoffs, or the market is **** and no one is available at the moment.

Teams are starting to get more desperate now. Ottawa, Toronto, Phoenix and Dallas want to make it into the playoffs. I get the sense Philly, NYR, and Winnipeg are looking for a shake up. Buffalo, Edmonton, and Calgary are probably looking to shed some salary. I think the market is going to pick up over the olympics and we'll start seeing some trades.

I don't see any deals being made until after the Olympics. Roy wants to know what he has on the roster and too many players are injured.

This is gonna be such a weird trade deadline. I don't think any of us are too sure what Roy and Joe are gonna do based on the lack of a track record, and Roy's emotional and fiery nature kind of breeds unpredictability anyway.

I'm preparing for anything from trading O'Reilly in a blockbuster, to a mutli player deal for some of the castoffs in Winnepeg, to getting absolutely fleeced by Slather for MDZ, to making a reasonable trade for Kulikov, all the way to just bringing in a depth defender and told to be patient and that Roy is happy with the D.

I don't see anyone on Winnipeg who is really needed. Trouba will not be going anywhere, Enstrom is tiny and pushing 30, don't see them trading Buff, Bogosian is going to be incredibly overpaid starting next year, Little is one of two good centers, Wheeler is inconsistent, and Ladd is the captain. I'd be interested in Ladd, but even he is prone to being useless.

Also sounds like MDZ is playing better. Same goes for Kulikov.

I think the last part is what I expect. Depth defender who fans won't be overly happy with.

Depth defender is better than making a bad trade.

I wouldn't hate having Kane... just saying lol.

They have plenty of depth D... they need NHLers. They could just roll with what they have too. I wouldn't cry about it.

With Sarich/Guenin and Benoit/Wilson. We have bottom pairing for days though.

Isn't Sekera a FA next year? I wouldn't be mad giving him a pay day. He's been a top 5 defenseman in the NHL this year imo. Under the radar. But he's one of the best two way guys in the league right now.

He will be a free agent in 2015.

That's what I'm saying. We established there are no elite guys to spend on this year. So

Every fans in Winnipeg are wishing for a center and we badly need a LD.

We have 2 centers that might be available in Statsny and O'Reilly.

I am willing to let go one of them if we can get a guy like Trouba but for a guy like MDZ, i would keep them both.

In Pittsburg, a guy like Maatta is also a player that we should take a serious look at.

I'd say Sekera is a long ways from elite, and I don't think the Avs should be that patient. Make a trade between now and the middle of next season to give this team a real chance to make a run in the playoffs. Making it this year should be a reasonably achievable goal. Winning at least a series should be a reasonable goal for 14-15. Then, being a legit cup contender from 15-16 on should be the goal. Treading water until 15-16 before trying to make any noise would not be acceptable in my mind.

Sekera isn't even among the 30 best defenders in the league. He's a fine #3. Nothing more.

You are vastly overrating how good Sekera is. He is nowhere close to being a top 5 defensman in the NHL this year or elite.

Sekera may not be top five in the league, but he is light years ahead of any defender on the Avs not named EJ or Hejda.

Although this years Free Agency might not include any Elite Guys, it certainly includes some very good guys.

I don't understand everyone's obsession with wanting an Elite Dman. With EJ and Hejda having break out years, we don't need an elite Dman. We have one right now in EJ, and a very steady Top 2 guy in Hejda.

We need Middle pairing Dmen. And theres plenty of those guys available in free agency this summer. Girardi, Timonen, Markov, Niskanen, Nikitin, Boyle, Mitchell, Tallinder, Greene.

Lots of good #3/4 guys available potentially for the Avs this summer.
