Darnell Nurse had 2A and a +1 in the Greyhounds 5-4 shootout win over the Knights. Just looking at his stats offensive wise he has seemed to slow down a bit after being at ppg pace.

One goal in the second period for Marco Roy this afternoon. A nice shot from the slot. It's too bad he's been injured so much this year, he's a nice prospect. He skates really well and is noticable every time he touches the ice, at least during today's game.

Went about 6+ games without a point. Glad to see him grab a couple tonight and hopefully get back on track offensively.

Yeah, he has; I don't know how realistic it was to think he'd continue at a PPG pace. What is most important is he is playing heavy, heavy minutes in all situations against all the top lines in the OHL. He's getting the kind of exposure he will need if he sticks in our terribad D core next season, as many anticipate he might.

He actually had a goal on the 3rd against Guelph, tonight snapped a 3 game pointless streak for him.

If you look at his game by game stat's, you can see his PIM's have dropped off too. Perhaps this is him 'simplifying his game' like Hockey Canada asked him to do? It could just be him concentrating on developing his defensive game, which certainly can't be a bad thing. Then again I haven't watched him play in some time so that's all just speculation and positive thinking.

Pretty excited to see Nurse at camp next year. If he's able to put on a little more weight over the next few months and then trains and eats hard in the summer he could realistically come into camp at 6'4 ~210lbs. Honestly as long as he's over 200 at camp i'll be happy.

Or we can send him to Byfuglien summer training session and have him at 250lbs at the camp

Not crazy at all.. These 2 Dmen were ranked right next to Nurse so it was pretty much an organizational preference between the 3. We chose Nurse but couldve chosen one of the BUF picks.

2013 was a great draft for Dmen.. There should be atleast 5 top pairing Dmen from this draft. Hopefully Nurse is one of them.

So, just one more time, what is the real knock on Moroz?

Speed could be an issue with him if he ever makes it to NHL.. Most here just have low expectations for him considering how Hamilton and Pitlick are shaping out in AHL..

Didnt Kessy put up good points in Juniors as well?

Chase, Khaira, Moroz are all looking good but are good 4 yrs away from becoming NHLers and probably wont be much more than 4th liners once they get there.

Moroz is a great skater, and his numbers are better than Kessy's were. I don't think it's fair to write off Kessy yet either too.

I don't understand this pessimism. All three of them have the tools to be solid bottom 6'ers with upper end second line complementary wingers. You just need to have a little faith and not look into things like draft positions etc. too much.

Well the kid is almost 20.. so he is playing against younger, smaller kids..
Also, his numbers are a bit inflated due to Lazar being on the team \ line ..

To me he is a slight upgrade over a player like Ewanyk with Ewanyk actually having a better chance at cracking the NHL roster in a checking role.

The numbers these kids are putting up are great but they dont seem to translate once they become AHLers.. Pitlick, Hamilton, Ewanyk, Kessy, Lander, Marincin, Gernat are the reason for pessimism.

What an odd comment. Of course players don't score at a ppg as rookie pros. It's a tough transition, the same way 16 year olds don't light it up as rookies in the WHL.

Pitlick's offense didn't translate, but there's still a lot of positives in his game and he's still developing. Both him and Hamilton have had their fair share of injury issues too.
Ewanyk never really showed much in terms of offense in the WHL. Even then, he's scoring at a higher rate now then he did in his first WHL season...
Kessy scored a bit, but even then his numbers were limited, he's a bottom six player who plays physically and drops the gloves. If you want to judge his scoring, wait till he's played more than half a pro season.
Lander is almost a PPG player in the AHL right now, development takes time.
Marincin scored 30 points as a rookie dman, that's really impressive. That's the similar numbers as first rounders like Beaulieu, Oleksiak, and Gormley. Gernat is on pace for similar numbers.

Yeah Marincin is reason for pessimism. He's been awful so far.

Pitlick and Marincin have been great for the big club in their limited games here - especially Marincin. Lander, as much as he's maligned for not being a 1st line centre in the NHL, is well on his way to covering his 100 game bet for a decent 2nd rounder.

Gernat, as a powerplay wizard/defensive hand-grenade, has looked fine.

That's more than half of that pessimist list.

I am really disappointed that Fedun never got another call up. I thought he looked really solid as a bottom pairing and sure as **** not worse than Potter, Grebs or Lars. I am thinking he could be a solid bottom pair next season if we don't do something stupid like resign the Elder Schultz. He's decent at moving the puck something our bottom pair really lacks on the left side these days. He looked anything but bad in his 4 game stint.

Khaira's type of offence translates easily to the pro ranks. Big, strong puck protector that crashes the net, screens the goalie, and deflects goals, with outstanding hockey IQ and playmaking skills. Even if for whatever reason he struggles to adapt, a 6'4, 200 pound, defensively responsible center is exactly what the doctor ordered. Greg Chase is another player that thrives by going into the dirty areas and has excellent hockey IQ, the difference between him and Khaira is that he relies more on speed, whereas Khaira relies more on strength. Again, even if for whatever reason the offence never shows up, the Oilers can use a pest. As for Moroz, I don't feel his offence will translate, but he's still more useful in most aspects of hockey than other enforcers.

Really? I thought he looks very nhl ready. He's +3 in his 10 games. Plays about 18 min a night, and is just playing a really safe game so far.
