Interesting note:

Kasperi Kapanen, the #1 ranked European skater for this years draft, has 8 points in 30 games with KalPa of the Finnish Elite League this season and had 4 points in 13 games last season.

In contrast, Barkov was the #1 ranked European skater for last years draft and had 48 points in 53 games last season with Tappara and 16 points in 32 games the season before that.

Just goes to show how good Barkov really was during his time in the FEL.

Thank you. I get on these witch hunts every so often to purge the boards of people who can't use google to check their facts.

If he were to score 30 in the final 37 and catch Landeskog's pace, we would have to start a new poll for my new username. The things I would put this guy through on the main boards since he promised to tell me "I told you so" in April would be all-time.

A few years ago I got a warning for copying this guy's, "I told you so" into paint, and commenting in every thread he commented on for a few days after he was proven wrong months later.

Probably not likely though I like your argument on the main board and I hope what you say comes true. He has never played more than 53 in a season and this year he has the Olympics to go along with it. But no one can accurately predict the future.

other teams usually draft the guys like barkov... not us... we get guys who don't reach potential... So the past two years we have been lucky to see guys playing to or above their potential. Imagine what happens when we add two more guys to the top 6.. i am starting to think signing marleau / thornton if available to lets say a 4-5 year deal would be great for our kids.

You really want to sign two players who will be 35 years old before the start of next season, to 4-5 year deals? I wouldnt mind going after Marleau, but for three years max. Id rather go with Barkov and Bjugstad as our top two centers next year, instead of JT, as crazy as that might sound.

I was extremely disappointed that this ass-hat Freudian didn't continue his argument with me about Barkov's pace relative to the other recent high draft picks at forward. My $10 per player bet would have net me $40, since I would have won 5 and lost 1 had he actually checked his facts. RNH is the only player with a way better first 45 games than Barkov. Everyone else is close, and most of them did it with way more SOG.

Barkov was just chosen as the "Young Athlete of the Year" for 2013 in Finland.

We have to find a way to increase the talent level of huberdeau and bjugstad's linemates.

Right now barkov boyes bergenheim is worth keeping together. I wouldnt mind separating huberdeau and bjustad in two different lines with a lot more talent on each. I still think we should bring in paul stasny. Imagine Barkov, Stasny, Bjugstad down the middle. Move trocheck to wing. Shore on the 4th. You can never have too many good centers.

Matthias would be the ideal 4th line C for the future. Shore has bigger upside than that.

I would keep Matty for the 4th line as well. Id go:

Barkov
Bjugstad
Shore
Matty

That is a lot of size down the middle, and all four are capable of playing good defense.

what an awesome tic tac toe play between him and Boyes for the first goal the other night. Kids got alot of confidence and it's only going to improve his play!

Barkov is leading the team in points, takeaways, PPG's. 2nd most blocked shots for foward, 2nd best at faceoff circle and 2nd most TOI for foward. He is little over 18 year and 4 months old. Special kid in the making no doubt about it.
