I think we talked about this on this thread. The way of the future is content on demand and streaming to IP devices. Rogers is going head to head with Netflix now in the movie space.

Not my cup of tea (I'm not into sci-fi much), but it looks like this one is generating tons of buzz.
Watched the premier 2 first episodes, the first 15 minutes look interesting, but after that, imo , its just meeh . Was very hyped because Ronald D. Moore from Battlestar Galactica put his hand on it, but so far, its pretty average. Might give it a chance with a few other episodes, but if im still bored , ill dropp it.

“Catching Fire” Is The First Film With A Female Lead To Top The Annual Box Office In 40 Years
As first pointed out by Mark Harris, this hasn’t happened since The Exorcist. Which is INSANE.
It's because action roles have always gone to men and box office have reacted more positively to big action movies in general.

In the past before Alien, the biggest box office with females were probably non-action flicks like Love Story, Rosemary's Baby and Song of Music.

As for Catching Fire in particular, Worldwide, Iron Man 3 tops the box office with Despicable Me 2 ending up in second and CF in third. Fourth place? F & F 6 wich is amazing for being pretty much stunts and action and cars.

Personaly i'm baffled by geek culture and why some movies make so much money. I have no attraction with the Hunger Games franchise. Don't understand the appeal. I must be too old for this ****. For The Hobbit too for that matter. Or the current wave of haunted house flicks.

Rotten Tomatoes is still the best, for me. I find I generally agree with the critics' consensus. But even if you don't agree, it's the best place to get a wide variety of opinions from mostly respectable critics. The more you read, the more you'll find critics whose tastes are in line with yours and you can rely on them more directly.

Finally watched Taxi Driver.

Robert De Niro's performance is one the best I have ever seen in any movie. You really get the sense that as the movie goes forward he becomes a little crazier. He does such an excellent job as Travis.

Also recently watched Collateral because of multiple recommendations....wasn't that good. Very average.

Finally saw Sin City as well, I really really liked it.

It's my favorite movie of all time. I can watch it over and over again. De Niro's suits in the film are ****ing amazing.

Joe Pesci does a great job at making you hate him. Good performance.

It's just so well written. The pacing is awesome as well.

Wow @ Overlords just seeing Casino for the first time. Long time favorite and one of the best of the mob movies, glad you enjoyed it.

Watched HBO's True Detective last night and I thought it was pretty good. We should be able to get a hold of the different story lines and character development by around the third or fourth episode. Matthew and Woody actually work well in a weird way.

I thought it was terrific! Things might even get going sooner than that since the season is only 8 episodes.

Geeks just watch more movies. I went to the theatres like 15x last year, the average across the rich countries is once or twice.

The hunger games are actually well written though... it is the new twilight in terms of its popularity, but not in terms of content. Twilight is about a girl who is given things. The hunger games is about a girl who claims things. Among other differences.

Iron Man 3 though ... was a painful experience for me.

IMDB.com has been my source forever.

Rotten Tomatoes for the critic reviews.

But this is the truly best source.

I just watched Don Jon. I want Joseph Gordon-Levitt's babies so bad.

That is all.

It was enjoyable too.

And my favorite movie of 2013 is... The Act of Killing. A shoking documentary. One of the best I've ever seen.

I still have many movies left to see on my list, but so far I give good grades to Mud, Rush, Prisoners and The Hunt (Jagten).

Died of cancer at 50. An historical career cut very short.

Just watched True detective. Has potential. Was hooked in the first 5 minutes, but I always liked Woody. Intriguing story and characters.

I used to go to the movies every week but I got tired by event special-effect stuff.

Still, I don't understand why grown men would want to see that. And I would put Ender's Game in the same category.
