And isn't he out with a wrist injury, not a healthy scratch?
ewww...I wouldn't trade away Zibby for Kane.

That Cowen + Michalek for Kane is interesting....not sure if I'd do it. Remove Coewn and put in Pageau and Boro instead.

I won't get excited over it. But I could see that.
Would make us better.

I still can barely believe we actually had Dom Hasek as our goalie.

Their D would be amazing if they added Cowen. Huge, mobile, skilled

My inside sources are telling me that there is a deal is extremely close to being done that would bring heatley back to ottawa. The deal would involve michalek, greening and our 2014 3rd round draft pick.

I find it ironic that Muckler constantly gets ridiculed for trading prospects at the trade deadline yet his firing was the result of his refusal to trade young assets for a washed up Gary Roberts.

Truthfully Tim Gleason and Brooks Laich are the only players of any consequence that were traded by Muckler at the deadline. Gleason got us Bryan Smolinski who was great for us. I hated the Bondra trade at the time but not because I believed Brooks Laich would amount to much. He wasn't considered more than a mid level prospect. I just felt that adding a perimeter player to an already soft team made little sense.

Frankly I think Muckler gets far too much criticism and Murray gets far too much praise. I consider them pretty much equals and believe we hired both past their best before dates.

Kane has been injured, but there were apparently some raised eyebrows over something about him declaring himself unfit to play one of those games. Can't remember all of it, but just tossing it out into the rumour pile.

Rumours from the Buzz are similar to rumours on the threads here in that they often forget about the needs of at least one of the teams involved. If Wpg elects to move Kane they can get more from another team that Cowen and 9 MM, and why would Wpg want an expiring UFA anyway? If it was a serious rumors it would probably be Zibby plus Cowen for Kane plus minor piece or something along those lines. If the Sens don't offer that type of value I guarantee someone else will.

If not for the lockout so really believe Muckler brings Ottawa the cup... Hasek a year younger and no Olympic break

Iirc, Kane said he was healthy and ready to play, but didn't understand why he was still listed as injured and scratched from the lineup.

Zibby + Cowen is a big overpayment for Kane. Ottawa would be stupid to do that.

His trades were mediocre at best. My biggest gripe is that he completely abandoned the farm and reportedly only employed 3 amateur scouts. His drafting was awful. Anyone with a copy of the Hockey News' draft guide would have fared better at the table than Mucks.

Remember the tone of Bingo posters the few years after Murray took over? They were all soured and for good reason. That team and the system was completely abandoned. Muckler was a senile old man. I know people who worked at the Corel Centre at the time who found him wondering around the building aimlessly unable to find his way out. He was living on a legacy much like how Sather is now in New York. The best thing that ever happened to this team was drafting Alfredsson. The second was sacking Muckler.

Kane will cost as much as Ryan did...

Cowen or Zibanejad or Ceci
Stone
Prince

A cost around that probably gets Kane

Then he's not worth it for us. Let some other team overpay.

This is something we can actually agree on. Given the extra years on his contract, he could net more than Bobby.

Huh. Maybe there was something in the works related to Kane.

Zibby and Cowen for Kane plus a more minor piece is actually not an overpayment at all, but you are welcome to your opinion. Kane is young, is on a fantastic contract, and is a 30 goal guy that may get to 35-40 playing with someone like Spezza. He plays hard and drives the net hard. He is an absolute premium asset in every way, and if the Jets decide to move him a team will have to pay through the nose to get him out. What he is worth and what we would be willing to give up are entirely different questions.

Zibanejad + Cowen for Kane is terrible

Better to just wait for Zibby and Cowen to develop.

Thats way more than Bobby Ran got.

Lol, is this a joke?

Didn't he have like the best half season a Senators goalie has ever had?

But, you don't pay a price on what you project he might get points-wise with your roster. You pay based on his performance and worth. And, you have to take the off-ice issues into account.

After the Olympics and his injuries and "injuries." He pretty much gave up on our team in the playoffs.
