He looks much more comfortable with the puck than Weise or archibald or Hansen.
And he's got speed and a decent shot, sounds like a good 4th liner to me.

Weise is way better for the 4th. He hits and forechecks like a *******

Not recently - hence he was a healthy scratch.
Prior to Tuesday’s game against Pittsburgh, Tortorella told Team 1040 radio that Weise has not played “stiff” or physical enough of late, hence why he’s watching instead of playing.

“Dale Weise is out of the lineup. A month and a half ago, Dale Weise was playing on the third line,” said Tortorella on Thursday.

“It doesn’t need to be a lot of rhetoric. I’m not looking for words. I’m looking for contributions.”

not a great combo with the sedins in my opinion. you're basically pairing a floater with minimal compete level with your top top players who also have limited compete level. they won't be able to chase any pucks down and loose too many puck battles along the boards.

Yes. The Sedins are just awful along the boards and in the corners. Yes.

To whom are you referring?

And John Tortorella says you are badly mistaken on the Sedins' compete level.

If they don't score off the rush they just give up.

... And who could blame them, what with their inability to protect the puck down low, and their unwillingness to work in the corners.

If they'd just learn the cycle the puck. I think they could be all-stars!

Or maybe win a scoring title and be league MVPs, eh?

Been hoping he would get a bigger role for a while (not actually 1st line but more like 3rd line). Nice to see him getting a gold and since we are mixing up lines again, not a bad idea to see if he could actually stick with the twins. Gives you way more options on the 2nd and 3rd line (i.e. possible for a Burrows/Kesler/Hansen or Higgins line again, Santo should bring a spark to the 3rd line with whoever is leftover as wingers).

Hmm... .... So-- ....

Team is battling for a play-off spot in the league's toughest division.
Our "top top players" -- that's right, two tops' -- have limited compete level?
Sounds stupid, doesn't it? Then you think: Gee... hmm... who are our top top players? The Sedins? Limited compete level? Lose puck battles along the boards?

Botchford article on Dalpe - Dalpe gamble pays off big for Canucks

As Botchford writes the decision to put Dalpe with the Sedins swung the momentum in the Blues game.
Early in Friday’s game, the Blues looked every bit the juggernaut their recent record suggests they are.

They outshot the Canucks 11-3. The Canucks couldn’t even seem to contain the Blues’ fourth line. With about five minutes left in the first, the Blues seemed to be preparing to drag the Canucks to the woodshed.

Then, John Tortorella caught Dalpe’s attention.

“Dalps, you’re going with the Sedins,” the coach said on the bench.

Dalpe thought he was joking. Seriously.

But it was a move that helped shift the game.

With the Sedins, Dalpe immediately had two good, puck possession shifts to close out the first.

Then, on his first shift to start the second, Dalpe had his second goal of the season, and the Canucks had a 1-0 lead.

Dalpe would later say it was a lucky play. His stick in just the right spot to tip one in at just the right time. It doesn’t matter. The Canucks needed it. Desperately.

“I don’t think anyone has played well with the (Sedins),” Tortorella said. “Michael (Santorelli) fought it real early in the game. I thought (Chris Higgins) was fighting it.

“We just changed things up and I think Dalps played pretty well with them.”
Like Burrows, Dalpe is reputed to have a high hockey IQ and that, it seems is needed when playing with the Sedins who think the game on another level from most players. It also helps that he also is defensively aware and some offensive skills.

Dalpe, like Kassian, has been one of the most improved forwards throughout this year. Giving the Canucks the opportunity to utilize Burrows in different areas of the lineup where he might be more effective for the time being. Kesler needs to get off this linemate rollercoaster.

I like him but I don't think he's the Zac(k) that should be playing with the Sedins.
