time to bump this thread up. its been bad luck year for burrows in terms of staying healthy. by the time he comes back, he'll be a good addition to the sedins but HAS age caught up to him? 0 goals in 17 games earlier on. when he returns, hope he regains his scoring touch. when he comes back, pushes most of the guys down further the depth chart.

Age wasn';t stopping him from getting scoring chances it was simply missing.

Alex Burrows - Palace Royalty Or Street Rat?

Burrows was the ultimate tale of rising from the ECHL to a productive first liner in the show, except now he is playing his worst hockey in years. Whats going on with Burrows?

Is he the palace royalty from the past 5 seasons or is he a returning to his old ways as a street rat?

"ALEX BURROWS.... YOU ARE A STREET RAT!"

Needs to rub the bald head of Alex Auld to summon the Genie that will bring him out of his slump.

That jaw protection he had to wear obviously effected his vision, he was mishandling simple passes and had trouble finding pucks that were near him. In a shootout last month he put on a helmet without the jaw protector.

I believe he doesn't need to wear it anymore at the end of the month, so we'll see how he does after the Olympics. I highly doubt he goes the entire season without a goal.

yeah, he just need regain his NHL speed and that jaw protector is likely making it harder.......I mean Giroux went 20 game without a goal because he broken his finger so Burrow should be good after the olympic break

Coming out of last season I saw Burrows as a potential guy to be eventually moved from the forward group, even though I have loved him playing on the Canucks, and he hasn't done much to change that opinion other than drastically lower his trade value.

The way I look at it I do not see spots for all 3 of Burrows, Higgins and Hansen in this teams top 9 if we are looking to improve our scoring. As an outline for say the next 3 years I would think we are building towards having a potential lineup of.

Sedin-Sedin-X
Shinkaruk-Kesler-Kassian
Higgins-Horvat-Hansen

Now naturally I suppose the argument could be that Burrows should fill that spot with the Sedins, but I believe that we need another young player with a high scoring potential to be put in that role. Not only to gain experience for the "next wave" but also I'm not confident that burrows will be able to provide the goals needed for this team to be successful over the next few years. Can Nicklas Jensen potentially fill that role? Or Dane Fox? That is yet to be seen. But personally, I believe that we need to move a defenseman to acquire a prospect/young NHLer who could become that player, or acquire him in this upcoming draft.

just a horrible season, injury wise. I believe if He, Daniel, and Henrik are all healthy they would return to scoring goal like before.....it too bad we didn't sent him to the AHL before he came back

At least he's still useful. Unlike some other players on this team with big contracts...

Willing to give him a mulligan until that stupid face cage comes off. If he's still playing the way he has the last month after the Olympics, then all bets are off.

I doubt that they would, but they'd look a hell of a lot better rested and healthy rather than injured and exhausted. Sedins aren't PPG players anymore, IMO. Still real solid 70-75 point guys and I still think Burr has a 25 goal season left in him...somewhere. But they haven't been good this season. Without Henrik, we look like a disaster offensively.

Daniel and Henrik might never get 100 points again but they could still get 90 points with a elite linemate. For now, Burrows is the best option, and he might really help to save the season.

Burrows will be moved if he can.

There's a reason why he didn't sign an NTC. He signed this contract to get paid.

I bet Bergevin is willing to take a flyer on Burrows.

I think he should work his way back up through the lines. Get his defensive game back playing on the 3rd line and then go from there. THey are force feeding him minutes that he is clearly struggling with right now.

I think his jaw protector is affecting his play.....He just need to be 100% after the break, and he should score again.

He's had a remarkable career and I'll be first in line to buy his book when he's done, but at some point the excuses need to stop. Zero goals in 28 games is not "snakebit."
