It does feel nice every once in awhile being the team outplayed all game and winning, a W is a W
This right here is another example of people saying stupid things to be dramatic. They weren't outplayed all game, you're seeing what you want to see to enable complaining. The problem was that the defense is horrible and the few times that the puck was out of the offensive zone they had trouble getting it out of theirs because they are slow and make bad decisions.
Really the only goal that was hi fault was the 3rd one IMO
I'd have to look over the goals against tonight to see how much of it was his fault, but he's definitely much worse then he started off the season as.
The thing with a starting goalie in the NHL is that you expect them to come up with big saves when needed a lot of the time and you should feel comfortable putting that faith into your starter. For instance, with that third goal against Meszaros was awful, but it was a very savable shot and a shot you expect a legitimate NHL starter to be able to save most of the time.
Mason has been pretty shaky for a long while now in terms of this season. It's not inspiring considering his history before coming here and how he had a Calder season in Columbus then basically imploded.
He faced 19 shots tonight, a big save would be nice here & there.
Obvious question: Is Mason being overworked? TSN says he is on pace to play 61 games this year, and has played 34 to date (don't know if that includes tonight or not). 61 will tie his season record, set back during his rookie year.
