I don't think it is any coincidence that Schenn has looked bad again since Gus went down.

The thing with a starting goalie in the NHL is that you expect them to come up with big saves when needed a lot of the time and you should feel comfortable putting that faith into your starter. For instance, with that third goal against Meszaros was awful, but it was a very savable shot and a shot you expect a legitimate NHL starter to be able to save most of the time.

Mason has been pretty shaky for a long while now in terms of this season. It's not inspiring considering his history before coming here and how he had a Calder season in Columbus then basically imploded.
I have confidence he'll turn it around. As long as he plays well down the stretch, we'll be fine

That's a flimsy argument to begin with. His first three NHL seasons though:

61
58
54

He's only 35 games into this season and he's been shaky for a long while now. So it definitely has nothing to do with fatigue.

we should trade Grossmann or Coburn for a 1st or 1st+ one of them and move up and complete the rebuild of the defense.

Philly needs to make an unexpected move before the Olympic break.

We have so many C and no room for them. Other teams want some. And that means B.Shenn probably gets traded.

If Downie isn't going to play...trade him. Other teams needs 3rd liners with grit.

Some one tell Giroux and the Flyers the Olympic break has not started yet

Ugly lucky win, Simmonds was our best player.

Happy Read is back and Vinny scored.

I'm not sure either way. I was confident in him to start the season and I definitely didn't doubt him as much as other people did because I know a change in scenery can do a lot of things for a player, but this is very concerning at the very least.

you do realize any defenders we draft probably won't be in the NHL for several seasons, in the mean time our current D gets much worse

Trade Gross, no to Brayden unles Bogo type comes back, and PLEASE trade Downie. May even get a second or prospect from a west team like Canucks

Doesn't matter who is in net, this defence needs work in a hurry. I'll take the 2 pts and run.

Trade Downie and Grossmann for a better D-man?

It is a reasonable question.

Define a long while. Mason was good and the defense sucked. Then everybody was clicking. Now the defense sucks and Mason has been average.

Please do NOT trade Downie. He's a had a rough stretch recently but he'll get back to where he was when he started with us. Even if he continues to be a healthy scratch, he's good to have for when another winger inevitably gets injured.

When your defense sucks, only a goalie can do so much... but I still think Mason really should of had the 3rd goal.

I want zero parts of Bogosian, that contract could get really ugly down the road if he doesn't find his offensive game.

You can tell this is a fan base used to being on top. We are a good but not great team. Middle of the pack for the most part. That will def get better but in the meantime you take this win and run.

Need to make some changes though. Get downie and Gus in there for sure. This D is easily the worst I've ever seen on a flyers team in decades of watching.

Not gonna bother to sift through game by game records, but I imagine it would coincide with when his .930 to .940 save percentage started plummeting.

So I imagine his last ten to fifteen games.

Downie and Grossmann for Goligoski? Maybe a plus in there on Dallas' side?

With the first two FA suggestions, how about the Flyers don't go after another dinosaur on the back end.

I know Kimmo is likely done after this season (but you never know!), but they should try to get defenders still in their prime.

Keep Grossmann, keep Coburn, keep Schenn, still will have Streit, resign Gus, get another solid two way defender to fill out the top 6, preferably one under 33.

I agree that Mez brings down that pairing, but this game Luke looked bad all on his own. So many turnovers.

Not a great game against such a bad team, happy to get 2 points though.

Read seems to have sparked that 3rd line, only wish Berube would keep Vinny off it.

Mason's play lately is troubling.
