Yeah haha. I was skeptical when I read it here at first, because it's unlike Pete to throw players under the bus like that. Especially veteran players like that.

A better stat to look at is the 5on5 F/A. We are still pretty poor because we are at .92. Baby steps.

We now have 50 PTS. 50 more to 100.

Johnyrocket says no, but can anyone else confirm they don't count the goals against that you get from losing a shootout? If we have the lowest goals against in the league (Shootout goals against not counting) would we win the Jennings? Or do they count all the goals against for every shootout we lose?

That would suck if we got screwed out of the Jennings that way.
Nah, they just count the GA in the standings. If you look at the team stats it won't include them.

So technically two points out of 2nd place in the division, yet they've played more games than Philly, Washington, Carolina, and Columbus. NJ needs the division to continue to be mediocre at best for a while longer if they're gonna have a chance at a playoff spot.

Can't wait for that trade to clear up the logjam on D that's coming eventually! ... RIGHT?

a few years ago Marty and the queen had a shutout into the shootout, and I thought both were credited with shut outs (even though we scored in the shootout)
not 100% sure on how they do the goals against with shootouts, I do think the team that looses the shootout does have a goal count against them

So if we lose 12 shootouts this year, they won't count the 12 goals against us in the Jennings race?

So we could lose the Jennings based on bogus goals for losing each shootout?

We're not seriously in the Jennings race anyway. LA has 93 goals allowed. We're sixth with 111, though six of those are empty-netters - I guess they count too.

Yes you still get credit for the shutout if you go 0-0 to the shootout. Even if you lose in the shootout. Marty lost a shootout after both he and MAF got the shutout in 2010-2011. I know it doesn't count against individual statistics. I'm just wondering if they count the goal against for however many shootouts we've lost, when awarding the Jennings?

Our goal differential is -6 because of losing 7 shootouts, but in reality our goal differential is really +1 on the year.

I think we're 5th or 6th in the league when ignoring the 7 goals against for losing 7 shootouts this year. We probably won't be able to get it unless LA and Boston start giving up a bunch.

yeah as far as I remember it, its 1 goal for the winning team stat and 1 goal against the loser of the shootout
(even if 5 goals are scored between the two teams)

Yup. Just 1 goal for a shootout win, and 1 goal for a shootout loss.
What I posted was the actual goal totals. It shows up in the standings as 118, but that list doesn't count shootout goals. It even lists all the goals allowed by situation (5/5, 5/4, 4/4, 4/5, etc)

But yeah if they count the shootout goals in the Jennings that just makes it even harder.
