It's a missed opportunity because there won't be another Seguin type player avalible this time around if the jets want to move him.

That's insane from a Jets perspective. I wouldn't give up more than 25 6th rounders.

Yeah, and it's hard to know who a Seguin type player is at the time, since you're banking on massive improvements post-trade. Seguin was risky and the price was lowered accordingly, I think. Had Dallas paid through the nose for Seguin, then I think Winnipeg's expectations on Kane would be a little more believable.

Evander Kane for:

1. 2014 1st Round Pick
2. Andre Burakovsky (Top Prospect)
3. Connor Carrick (Quality Prospect: Projects as #3-6 defenseman)
3. Martin Erat (Top 6 Fwd: brutally mis-used in Washington)
4. Troy Brouwer (Top 6 Fwd)

That's a 1st round pick, Burakovsky (1st Round Pick, who's been fantastic in 1st full North American season and had a strong WJC), Connor Carrick (Quality Prospect who projects as a #3-6 defenseman and is only 19 years old. Made the caps out of training camp and had a strong WJC), Martin Erat (Top 6 veteran 2-way scoring RW/LW. Caps have misused him horribly), Troy Brouwer (Top 6 veteran power forward, defensively responsible, produces decent offense, kills penalties, plays PP, provides a physical presence and is a leader.)

Probably being way to one-sided when I did the Kane & Buff proposal, but that's a lot of pieces that can help Winnipeg both now and in the future for an extremely talented player who is a bit of a head case.

I thought this would be pretty fair compensation, but would it take more than that to pry Kane?
Age and contract status of those guys won't be in line with what the Jets would want, and I think you're using "top prospect" a bit too liberally.

You'd probably be looking at something like MoJo + T. Wilson + 1st as a starting point--and I doubt that's enough to get the Jets to bite.

Since Kane obviously isn't going to be moved, would Wheeler be any more of a possibly target? From the way it sounds, the Pens like him a lot, and Bylsma and Shero took him over Bobby Ryan.

Beginning to wonder if it might be Ladd. If this team is still a mess when his contract is up (likely as it ends soon) is he resigning here? I don't know that'd I'd take that risk TBH.

I'd like for the Habs to get Kane, but I don't see him getting traded.

Having said that, for ***** and giggles: Eller, Gallagher, Collberg + 2nd for Kane.

Keeping in mind that the Habs would want to keep Patches along with Kane, what would you say would be a fair proposal from the Habs?

I'd assume that it starts and ends with Galchenyuk.

Well, I guess you're right, it ends with no deal but I could see that being the asking price.

Proposing that the Jets should trade for guys like Erat and Green that are UFA in one more season is just not at all realistic.

Why is Kane so valuable?

1) 22 years old
2) Dynamic, physical, scoring winger
3) Signed for 4 more years @ $5.25 million

That's why so many fans from other teams flock to the HFB's trade discussions to propose trades for Kane. What is humorous is how offended they are when Jets fans dismiss their inadequate trade proposals.

I think this is overpayment, but i think jansen, lack and 1st round in 2014 would do.

A 3rd liner, a backup goalie, and a late 1st?

That's awful.

EDIT: thought he ws going for Hansen, not Jensen. Still, I don't think that's nearly enough.
