maybe i'm in the minority but i don't think thats a mistake by girardi..

things are happening fast down there and he took his man out..that is something kaspar, malik, and ward have not done this season..

maybe it's just me but i think that was the SMART thing to do and a "good penalty"

Defenitly a bit rusty players out there. Ward missing the puck, Nylander several times misshandling the puck are a few examples. Don't think we are playing well, Philly are handing us their zone with their sloppy transition game, guess thats why they are last overall. Though if they pick it up and we don't we will be in trouble.

Girardi atleast don't seem shaky in his first game.

I hate posts.

Something I can't figure out, we give up extremely few "normal" shots. Sanderson had a slapper from the left side. Though other then that, I am not sure if Lundqvist have made a save he were really "aware" of. Its often like that. A ton of closein shots, or quick breaks after misstakes, but really few normal shots from outside the boards ect. This period isn't a good example with all the special teams, but its not the first time. Its not often you feel that Lundqvist is warmed up and hot after a first period.

Agreed SOS. We've all been clamoring for a D-man who will actually clear the crease, and Girardi has done that. It was just unfortunate that Henke got knocked over. Even then, Girardi followed the play with his eyes while ripping the Flyer off Henke at the same time. It was a good play.

Except for the fact that they had 17 shots on goal and ZERO goals. Definitely one of the more piss poor periods I've ever seen. This is a horrible Philly team that is just hanging in there because none of our key players can come through. You could say that we played with energy and didn't allow many scoring chances, but the scoreboard doesn't show any of that.

All we need now is to trade one of Racuneck/Malik and we are gold.
I still can't believe Girardi wasn't drafted, he must have dramatically improved.

Would have preferred Girardi taking his man out without plowing Hank as well but you cannot fault him for that. He's wayyyy more composed than I thought he would be, or any rookie generally is. I love his skating and passing. He really looks like Tyutin did when he came in as a rookie.

What's kind of ironic is Aaron Ward making the rookie-ish, nerve type of mistakes. He has been atrocious handling the puck today.

Seriously. I know it's one period in one game, but the kid doesn't look lost. He has a physical element to his game, seems to play positionally sound and if the AHL is any indication has some offensive upside as well. I'm glad he's getting a look.

Holy ****, it's amazing what happens when you throw the puck at the net. Reward Rachunek and play him on the PP, see if he keeps doing that.
