No but it's an upgrade nonetheless, nothing major, but good move. EDM saw opportunity (LA having Jones) and took it.

Scriven's wife apparently doesn't like the cold. Scrivens is a UFA at season's end.
Scrivens will help them win more games, but not enough to be a playoff team. In all likelihood Scrivens leaves and Edmonton is stuck with a ******, overpaid 4th liner.

Oilers problem = players like Ales Hemsky

Soft, small, overpaid, 0.5 PPG forwards.

Oh wait

lol. very likely scenario.

but in all seriousness i want EDM to succeed, specifically that talented core. Would be a big + to the NHL as a whole.

You'd think that EDM would at least TRY to acquire some kind of defenseman before rotating UFA to be goalies in and out.

Awards:
If Scrivens isn't resigned by Edmonton after this season, MacTavish just pulled a big oopsy-daisy.

I thought Ottawa had requested an outdoor game vs Montreal that year, but it might have been for 2018.

Last five minutes of Pit vs Was was way exciting. Wish we could play like that.

Good for Oilers:
Scrivens and Hendricks
FOR
3rd Rnd Pick + Dubnyk
(good deal for Edm, imo).

---------------------------------- -----------------------------------

And...
''Leafs closing in on Habs''...it's changing every week!!
(last week some were concerned with the Leaves getting Ekblad!).
My prediction...Leafs get between 9th and 13th pick.

So happy to see Ovechkin roaring back. He's a pleasure to see play when he's on his game, so impressive. A force of nature.

Another OT game for the Leafs. That team has a tough time winning in regulation time.

man the Leafs might be gaining on us but they just can't close it out in regulation. If I'm seeing it right, 8 of their 51 points come from shootout wins, and another 5 come from OT losses... that's gotta be among the worst in the league.

side note, I really like those old-school Caps jerseys with the stars.

Geez, ... talk about a league with parity. There are 11 teams out of 16 sitting within ten points of each other in the Eastern conference and 7 of those teams are within 7 points from the Habs. It's absolutely crazy, the Leafs went from 12th place to 5th with just two wins. Any one of those teams gets hot or cold and it changes dramatically.

It's going to be a nut case hot contested race to finish for the playoffs.

I wonder if the Leafs are intentionally playing for shootouts at this point.

I know it won't happen, because they are rivals, but the Habs needs to be in on him. Hopefully, the leafs will mess this up.
