Thank god.
One of our offseason signings is off our hands... Win win trade. Hendricks sucks

Move Cullen, Spaling, and Nystrom

Having seen Dubnyk play many times, I can honestly say that he's a FAR better goalie than his numbers will indicate. Run him out there with a real defense (read: Nashville vs. Edmonton's) and he'll be a more than serviceable starter 'til Rinne is ready and a fine backup thereafter.

Dubnyk will be way better here than he was in EDM so edmonton fans better prepare to cringe a bit more at this deal. Consider MacT fleeced by Poile! haaa

He's certainly earned some rope after this and the FF deal. Now make a splash with the forward corps Poile.

The Oil just traded for Scrivens so they've already made a move to fill the hole left with this trade ... a 3rd and Dubnyk for Scrivens and Hendricks.

I'll believe Dubnyk is playing closer to potential when he actually does it. He's a 1st round pick with a career .910sv% in the NHL ... granted that is better than any goalie selected by the Preds in the 1st round, but, still not stellar numbers. If the team defense doesn't get it's collective act together, it won't matter who is between the pipes ... DD, Maz, Hutton, or Peks when he returns.

We were idiots for signing him to that contract, Oilers are idiots for trading for him.

Dubnyk's contract is bad, but less than half a year. We win, but I liken it to an 400lb man losing 10 pounds. He should have never been 400 lbs to begin with, and 10 pounds is hardly a start but we have to start somewhere.

Dubnyk will play drastically better behind a real defense. I don't know what happened to him over the course of the offseason but he's just.... broken.

I've been wanting the Oilers to find a new goalie coach for years, I bet a new situation is going to help Dubnyk drastically. Don't be surprised to see him put up .910-.920 for Nashville playing behind a real team.

That being said I couldn't stand to see him in an Oilers jersey any longer, he's been horrifically bad this year but I bet Pekka Rinne would even look awful playing for this team.

Hendricks was a great pro and a great leader on the ice. He always gave 100%.
I'll miss that. But I didn't want him here for 4 years.

I honestly hardly ever noticed Hendricks on the ice. I always preferred Nystrom over him.

What's odd is that he is a wizard in shootouts but was never given the opportunity much.

It's funny with Poile, he sometimes get obsessed with a player that he's drafted over the years. Hendricks was a Preds 5th rounder I believe many years ago. I guess he left enough of an impression since he signed him as a free agent this offseason. Reminds me a little bit of the Brendan Witt trade that saw us overpay for the guy and then Trotz misused him by not letting him be the physical in your face type of defender he was.

Glad Hendricks is gone as he showed me nothing in his time here. Maybe Dubnyk in a new situation will be better than he's shown this year. At the very least, we got rid of one very bad contract. If we could rid ourselves of two more I'd be a very happy camper.

This is nothing less than a win-win for us. Even If Dubnyk is the same as Hutton/Maz (worst case), we still got rid of a terrible contract in exchange for a UFA. No down side for us.

Given where the cap is supposedly headed Hendricks contract isnt that bad. Never understood the worry over his 1.85 M. The issue was locking him into a roster spot for 4 years

Role player. Over paid in term and years. Wasted on this roster. I'm glad he is moving on to another team.

You keep bringing up this point about his contract numbers but who in their right mind gives a grinder close to $2 million a year, let alone 3 of them making 1.85, 2.5 and 3.25? That's absurd and if you can cite any example of this on any other team I'd be happy to listen but you don't pay your 4th line grinders that type of money no matter what the cap is supposed to be. You pay guys market value or somewhat close. Hendricks is making about $1 million more a year than he should've been.

We spent $10.85 million/year for the 4 guys we signed this offseason. Couple that with the $3.25 we're giving Goose and that's $14.1 million/year for what? 26 goals and 29 assists. Combined. So on average that's about 5 goals and 6 assists per player for a whopping 11 points per player. There are three guys in the NHL that have more points than all of these guys combined. There's another 5 players within 6 points of this total. Yes, those players are the best of the best but we're spending $14 million dollars on 5 guys that have a total of 55 freaking points. Let's break that up in to some other numbers. Say we had spent that money on two players and got that production, that would be about $7 million a year for 27/28 points per player. Still not acceptable.

We needed to fill some roster spots. I get it. Spending that sort of money to do so was stupid any way you look at it. Get three grinders for $3 million total, maybe $4 million if Poile was feeling sassy. That still would've left $10-11 million to sign some top 6 guys, whether it be this year or next year or open up free space for a trade. While last year was a disaster and guys need time in Milwaukee to develop, I think that's an overused cliche and at some point you have to see if these guys can play. We can't score so we spend money on grinders. We have kids in Milwaukee that may not be defensive specialists but I would rather have seen a few of them up here learning the pro game than watching supposed team guys who were going to be tough to play against and not do what was advertised.

I get your point, it's not our money so why should we care. Well, the reason I care is because this team is an atrocity to watch, it's not fun, it's not good and it's not entertaining. And guess what, it is my money because when I buy tickets, it goes to the owners who then pay the players. While it's not a huge chunk by any means, if that's the way the team wants to spend their money, I will choose to hold on to my money until things change around here.

I'm actually astounded by the numbers breakdown that I just laid out. It's mind boggling to be perfectly honest. $14 million for 55 freaking points.

Just to give you an idea of how bad this is, Joel Ward has 27 points and he's getting paid $3 million a season. That's half of the points that these 5 have produced for us. Joel freaking Ward. I'd take Joel Ward back in a heart beat at this point. We said he wasn't worth the money he got. Well, anyone want to recant on that one?

This issue was 4 years. If he was soon to UFA, he would've been overpaid but like ripping off a bandaid.

Amazing what we paid for these guys (in dollars and year), while guys like Mason Raymond and Brenadan Morrow could barely get a cheap one-year deal. Worst offseason in Predators history (2nd worst was 2012).

Glad some of the fat is being trimmed but we have a ways to go.

Yes at least one of my wishes came true! Now just need to get rid of Nystrom and Stalberg. The only new addition I would keep is Cullen. Everybody else from the new bunch can go.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Dubnyk post a .915 - .920 save pct in this more defensive oriented system. Be warned though, no defense will be able to help with some of the soft goals he gives up Even last season when he had good numbers he could still deflate the team some games. I like this move for NSH, I hope Hendricks isn't as some of you are saying

Can't be more deflating than some of the goals our goalie Hutton has let in. If so, then we have some serious problems...lol. Hendrick is a decent grinder and plays decent defensively. If offense or a playmaker is what you need though, which is what we need then he wouldn't be your guy. If you just need a guy that is a hard worker and grinder, then he might be your man.

Nystrom isn't killing us. he scores just enough plus has grit. A little pricey but its not my money and there is no indication his excess money is going to stop us from paying someone else.

Stalberg is underperforming but Im willing to give him this throwaway year to integrate, he could still be OK. I don't see how anyone trades for him right now without us eating money and cap space or taking a bad contract back so might as well keep him and see what happens

Cullen is meh and if we can dump him at the deadline I won't shed a tear.

Goss is actually doing exactly what we are paying him for and ZI doubt he could be replaced by anyone who is just as good but at a cheaper price

Stoked when I saw this deal. We deal our worst forward (what has he provided all year) signed for 3 more years for a goaltender better than Carter Hutton. Dubnyk will get much better protection than he did in Edmonton. Playing outside of an always rebuilding organization will go a long way. I like it
