voted Girardi. Young AHL All-star dman. Didn't see the game though. how did he do? Slight edge over Immonen who is next on my list.

Do people think Girardi has a higher upside than Immonen? I think it's just the opposite, which is why I voted Immo. Both could and should be regular contributers to our team.

i still dont understand why Immo isn't in the top 10. This guy has great upside just isnt being used. Unfortunately i believe (or fortunately for him) a team other than the rangers will give him a shot

Voted Immonen, but I think that the Rangers organization may have had it with him. If they seriously believed in him he would be the second line center right now. Especially with Dubinsky seemingly now ahead of him on the depth chart. I still think he could be a top 6 forward in the NHL though, it will just have to be with another team.

That's the problem..I don't see great upside. If anything, I see a player where there isn't a lot of development left, which, in my eyes, makes him a decent 3rd liner, or a 2nd line center on a bad team. Guys like Dubinsky and Korpikoski have a great upside; they both ooze raw talent. Immonen looks like a player who , because he was a late round draft pick, was able to be left in Europe without the scrutiny of being a high draft pick. He molded his game to the point that he deserved a look in NA, but, nothing about his game says great upside to me.

Excellent post, I pretty much agree with everything you said. I still voted for Immonen this round though. Nothing wrong with a 3rd line center ready to go.

I agree with you Jas, I just don't understand what upside people see with Girardi. He's been nice in the AHL, but he has no tools that scream top pairing defenseman. I think he's a solid #4 defenseman in the near future. Immo is a solid 3rd C, possible 2nd C RIGHT NOW. He may not have much growth left, but I just don't see a whole lot with Girardi to get excited about (unless a solid #4 D-man excites anyone).

And I'm not trying to antagonize anyone who voted for Girardi, but I'd bet money that had this poll been taken 2 weeks ago Girardi would have about 3 votes. Being named and AHL All-Star and then being promoted to the show are certainly noteworthy accomplishments, but they don't make him a batter prospect than he was a month ago- which is a guy that if he develops right should be a decent second-pairing guy.

I haven't been on the Girardi bandwagon, either. He didn't impress the times I saw him in pre-season. I see a 3rd pairing D-man at best. He's probably the most developed D-man at Hartford, though, and he does play a safe game. I think part of the attraction is the idea of moving in some young blood, and moving out the tired vets.

Bahensky posted modest numbers in Juniors and has been a .5 point a game player in the ECHL. The only thing he has on Jessiman is a year and a half, and that he wasn't picked too high.
