Report-Rangers interested in Michael Holmqvist

Quote:
There has been talk of the New York Rangers being interested in winger Michael Holmqvist, who has gone 23 games without a goal

Dale Tallon and Rick Dudley were at yesterday's Rangers-Flyers game but they also attended the Caps-Canes in DC last night

Holmqvist is 6'3 and got really good speed, he also got decent offensive skills and especially a good reach and is strong on the puck.

He don't have any real offensive potential, kind of like a Blair Betts on the wing. He got a little better vision and finnishing skills.

If we aren't planning on playing any kids on the 4th line, I think Holmqvist might be a upgrade over Ward and Hall there.

More importantly, the Rangers would then knock Chicago out of a tie for 1st place with Dallas with the most "qvist"s on the team (2).

He actually has 3 goals and 7 assists on the season

why though? what does getting him accomplish?

I would hope the 4th line is going to be Hollweg - Betts - Ortmeyer and that Cullen moves down to 3rd (where he belongs) with say Hossa and Dawes (Krog/Ibister/Callahan/Hall/Ward/ev trade/ev other callup are all viable options here though) on the wings - if the Rangers deal for a nr 1/ nr Center which they must be seriously contemplating doing. Or bringing back Immonen to line 2. Or trying Dubinsky in the second line slot...

Whatever

Assets Plays well at both ends of the ice. Is capable of holding onto the puck for prolonged stretches, since he has terrific reach. Adds plenty of versatility to any roster.
Flaws Is somewhat soft for a 6-3 forward, which hurts his overall NHL performance. Needs to go to the net with greater frequency to score more goals.
Career potential Third line forward.

hed fit well with the Rangers, another big player who is soft maybe Holmqvist and Lapointe for Hall and Malik. That is what id do.

Another former First round pick who has not done anything. Well we got 2 of them so far, Marcel Hossa, Jason Ward, oh yea and we had Rico Fata in the past. Yep Holmqvist would fit well here.
