Jets at Flames: January 16

View Poll Results: Speaking of coaching changes, who do you want behind the bench next year?
Hartley, only Hartley, and no one but Hartley. 19 42.22%
Not Hartley. Anyone but Hartley. I would rather Harvey the Hound coach this team than Hartley. 5 11.11%
Fine with Hartley, but there's one or two other guys I'd prefer if we could get them 21 46.67%

Berra would easily clear waivers. Not a whole lot of teams looking for goaltending at the moment.

But clearing waivers does not automatically suggest the player has zero value.

Just wanted to come over and say you guys got really let down by your netminder tonight. Totally gave up on the 3rd and 4th goals before they were in the net. The rest of your team was better than the score indicates.

Good luck to you guys in the coming years. This draft should certainly help. I'll enjoy watching you make Edmonton fans pull their hair out once you inevitably surpass that gongshow!

Hartley should be fired but since he is doing such a good job with the drive for the #1 pick, we should keep him for a couple years

When he threw the team under bus and he totally sucked right along with them, I knew he would never wear Flames silks again.
Meh, good riddance. None of these goaltenders should be playing in the NHL.

I'm just glad Burke has made getting a starter one of his priorities.

Berra is still better than MacDonald. MacDonald deserves to be in the ECHL right now.

Fixed that for ya. He's doing fine with Abbottsford. This isn't DiPietro we're talking about.

The first has to be conditional to Miller signing a Luongo-esque 10+ year contract.

Yeah your right, Hartley should definitely be fired for getting the most of his players as possible. Someone else would easily do a better job, our roster isn't an issue whatsoever.

Assuming you mean 'Getting the most out of his players', which would be utter ******** right now. I wouldn't dump him yet, but I don't think I'd want him back next season.

They say it is easier to fire a coach than it is to replace 20 players. I think the Flames should do both.

Firing Hartley now doesn't really benefit the team.
If they do, they need an interim coach (probably Gelinas takes over for the last half of the season), and there's yet another break in continuity.

A few of the guys (Stajan, Stempniak, Cammalleri, Baertschi) have been on pins and needles just waiting for Burke to drop the other bomb ever since Feaster and Weisbrod were let go.

They should keep Bob til the end of the season and let the new GM hire his own coaching staff. It's not like they're making the playoffs, anyway.

Coaches are predominantly fired when the organization isn't happy with the direction the team is headed in. And aside from that stretch where the Flames were shutout in five of seven games, Hartley's taken this team to exactly where they were expected to be. But for the most part, the players are at least putting in some visible effort.

Firing Hartley won't change the lack of high end talent on the team.

Honestly, it seems like people here think 'rebuild' actually means 'win every game and compete for the cup.'

Hartley has done a fine job overall, and more important than anything else he has this team working hard for the first time in a decade.
