Got a full time job teaching this month and found out that I get to take my kids to the Oil Kings vs Wheat Kings on the 28th. Gotta love playing hooky to watch hockey.

I hope the 12 fans at the game in PG weren't too disappointed. Apparently they're expecting a decent crowd for this afternoon's Hockey Day in Canada rematch. Hopefully the Cougars can make more of a game of it today.

You will have a better chance up there, but you lose all control over your future. You apply for a position and they tell you we're you will work. Took me 2 years of subbing to finally get a contract even though it is out of my area of expertise.

It's really, really odd to have teachers having a hard time finding work -- you'd think schools would be dying for teachers given the explosion in growth for Edmonton schools. Good luck to you.

PERFECT.

I don't like Prince George. I felt terrible when Wilson got traded there.

6-6, tied up, Edgars Kulda with the even up goal. Ridiculous! I kinda have a soft spot for PG, because that's where Marincin did his time for the better part of his junior career.

And there it is, 7-6 Oil Kings win in a shootout. Great comeback, at least one of the hockey teams in Edmonton knows how to compete.

Fantastic win, 7-6 over Prince George. Not Jarry's best effort but the Kings really responded to adversity in this one.

They announced over 4k for the game. Apparently was the biggest crowd in the last two years.

Especially if you have a combination of "Social Studies" and "Physical Education"

I have been working in EPSB for 8 years as a Custodian and I can say that finding full time as a teacher is really difficult. I have talked with numerous student teachers and they are almost discouraged from teaching just because it would take them a long time until they are even considered some type of work. A lot of the new teachers I know go to small towns and start there. Then build up to the EPSB. Another problem I have seen is there are teachers who are well past their retirement age and just want to keep teaching. I mean, nothing wrong with that, but then you are taking away from the new teachers who want a shot at a full time position.

But enough from me talking about this in a Oil Kings thread. Back on topic.

OKs came back tonight down 2-0 to win 5-2 against the Pats. Impressive performance in the 3rd as they outshot Regina 19-4 and scored 3 goals. When they want to win and turn it on they are a very hard team to stop.

They're now 2 points back of Calgary for first in the conference with a game in hand ahead of a critical back-to-back against the Hitmen later this week.

Curtis Lazar with the natural hat trick and four pts in total. Edgars Kulda with 1-3-4. Both goalies played well. Tristan Jarry made what could be the save of the year with the game tied at 2 near the end of the second defending a 5-3 Regina pp. Great fight at center ice with Moroz vs a very tough and very game Dyson Stevenson.

To find a job as a newly graduated teacher, you either need to find your way at a new school, or kick someone else out of their old position.

Teachers are literally waiting for other teachers to die before more work becomes available.
