@EdmontonOilers: #Oilers acquire forwards Steve Pinizzotto and Jack Combs from @FlaPanthers in exchange for forwards Ryan Martindale and Derek Nesbitt.
Insight on these guys?
3RD ROUND (61ST OVERALL), 2010
The book on Martindale in his draft year was an all-world talent with questionable heart and commitment issues. The aspect regarding his talent is bang on, Martindale combines excellent size with a knack for the net and great on ice vision. Somewhat surprisingly he is also solid defensively and does well in penalty killing situations and on draws. While his pro debut was not dismal, he was a bit streaky offensively and ran into a bit of injury trouble around the mid-season mark."
Nesbitt is 31 years old and has never played in the NHL, so we'll probably use him to fill in the role currently being occupied by tomas fleischman.
Oilers are really making the trades these days. I wonder if either side entertained swapping Hubby and Yak.
It's so sad that every time we get someone I have to look them up because I've never heard of them before, a la Dylan Olsen and Jimmy Hayes (but I am a huuuuge Dylan fan).
Can't wait till we pick someone up that doesn't require research into the AHL or minor league teams.
Cmo let's get someone from the All Star game (not an All Star Game from the early 90's either) who can give this team its much neede boost offensively. I know we have to wait for free agency for that though, because Markstrom and Kulikov are "untouchables" according to people within the panthers organization, so we're stuck with growing pains for another five years. But yah, I'll just be patient like I have been for over a decade now for a big deal to go down.

I don't like this. I don't know anything about the guys we got back but I would've liked to keep Pinizotto.
I'm just going to post what i posted on the other thread before this one was made:
I think we should've brought up Pinizotto at least once and have him play at least one game instead of Barch.
IIRC, Canucks fans liked him and some said that he's a decent 4th liner who isn't afraid to throw the gloves and he had 2 pretty decent seasons in 2009-2010 and 2010-2011, playing for the Hershey Bears in the AHL.
I had actually forgotten about him but now I'm pretty disappointed we didn't get to see him play.
He played 20 games in San Antonio and scored 6 goals.
Martindale has an upside, not sure where he might fit in long term if he improves his skating, maybe a 3rd/4th line guy if he really improves. I don't see why we'd make this trade unless we are giving Steve a shot with the big club. Martindale isn't great or anything, but he's young enough and big enough that I wouldn't just toss him overboard.
