Good for him. I wonder if the Flyers will stick with him while he continues his recovery.

Great news for Bourdon. Glad to see he didn't give up and stuck through it. Hopefully he can be successful somewhere.

That said, there seem to be a lot of people I've been talking to that think he should be given a spot with the big club. I couldn't disagree more. I don't think he's earned anything.

I agree, even if he weren't injured the competition for the final spots is steep and frankly I don't think he'd have earned the spot.

Flyers don't have the roster room, and they're surely not going to carry 9 defensemen even if they did.

No way Bourdon should be given a shot now. But it is great to see he can resume his career. Lets hope he stays healthy and hopefully he can find a long term job.

Its been a while, but I remember him being solid, it felt like the Flyers were really hoping on him being a #5/6 when he started until he got banged up which kind of made them switch gears a bit. If he stays healthy in ADK and plays well, I wouldn't be surprised to see them try to squeeze him in next year.

For sure. I agree. I hope he'd be interested in signing with ADK and trying to get his way back. His contract is up after this season and I can't really see what his other options are.

If he can play the rest of the season in the AHL with no problems, then I'd gladly take him back on a two-way contract next year

This. let him play a couple of games to prove he is healthy before even thinking about his future as a player.

When healthy, he can compete for a #6/#7 role on the big club next season...

Why do people keep saying conditioning/rehab stint. Do the Flyers have to put him through waivers to keep him down there?

Capgeek says his deal is Standard.

Does anybody know if he's still waiver exempt?

Since it's a one-way contract, I would think he's not waiver exempt? But he is allowed to be in the AHL for conditioning.

I think its been stated that the 1 way/2 way doesn't have an effect on waivers, just how much they get paid.

2 way affects waivers, if his 2 way deal is above 105k he has to pass through. If under, I don't think they have to. This is also after the allotted waiver-exempt time has passed. I don't know the exact amount, but there is a threshhold for games played or years since first contract was signed that a player is waiver exempt.

My understanding is he does not have to clear waivers again. He cleared earlier in the year and that avoided the Flyers needing to put him on LTIR.

Took that from Bill Meltzer:

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Bill-...UJvXZI.twitter

"The 24-year-old player, who cleared waivers back in Sept. (which is why he has not been on the long-term injured reserve list), is expected to be loaned the Phantoms this week. This is very encouraging news for the likable and hard-working defenseman, who previously experienced a series of setbacks while recovering from concussions. "

EDIT: It does seem suspicious. Couldn't the Flyers just waive Pronger and avoid LTIR by the same logic?

no bc Pronger's injury was sustained as a Flyer. Bourdon's was not

great player is a bit of a stretch. he was looking to be a solid bottom pairing defenseman, but that's it

Didn't see a thread about this (sorry if I missed it)... but he is having concussion issues again due to another shot to the head.

Feel so bad for the guy.

Another setback for hard-luck Bourdon
Defenseman Marc-Andre Bourdon has concussion issues from banging his head into the glass during a recent game and is out of the Phantoms’ lineup indefinitely, Adirondack coach Terry Murray confirmed after his team’s morning skate Saturday in Voorhees.

Earlier this season, Bourdon spent two months at the University of Michigan, where he received treatment from concussion specialists and also skated on the college rink. The Flyers sent him to the Phantoms last month, and it took him a few games to get back into form, Murray said, adding that Bourdon was making major strides.

Well, I was hoping we'd never see him in a Flyers uniform again, but it's too bad this is the way this will transpire.
