I agree, he's cheap, great at faceoffs(63.4%) and doesn't make a lot of mistakes.

Read is the new Carter, plenty of goals against the Islanders.

I hope so too. He's valuable because he is an ace on faceoffs and is very very cheap. He is pretty defensively responsible as well: an ideal 4th line player.

The whole 'G is average at even strength' is a fallacy.

He has been top 15th in the NHL in 5v5P/60 over the last three seasons.

It just so happens that the Flyers spend the least time in the NHl at 5v5 year by year.

2.49 P/60 a season average over the last 3... that is top 20 almost every full individual season, and that is a three year average.

Just gotta love Matt Read.
The score doesn't really tell the story of this game so far. Much closer game!

They need to tighten up the D; the Islanders are moving the puck way too easily in the Flyer zone. Emery needs another period like the first two, and the skaters have to cut down on the odd-man rushes and on slot rebound chances.

I can almost guarantee he gets a contract. He leads the team in pk time if I'm not mistaken, fights when need be and can hit and forecheck in addition to his face off skills. No brainer in my mind.

Where does Laughton go? Hall's biggest value to the team is his faceoff ability.

Groundhog day?

It would be nice if the Flyers could just start to play some team defense in the third, you can't count on Emery to bail them out everytime. They're running around clueless out there.

This is good point. As good as giroux is it is amazing how easily he is nulified. Tavares is much more difficult to shutdown.

Even thought that even strength theory was basically debunked?

We hit 4? I'm trying my best to avoid scores. It's not working.
